We could not function up north.
The world down here's goes to shit when it snows.
Precipitation has been minimal but the cold north wind blows...
Winter is coming.
In the LaFleur thread I referred to French Canadians being tough. I have walked through the streets in Quebec in January at -20 and have seen (many) people walking with jacket open, and just sweaters underneath.

It just doesn't stop! PLUS...temps are to be falling thru the day!!!
Roads in Michiana are haradous. Many side roads are drifted over many feet. All the snow we have been getting is dry and powdery and perfect for blowing and drifting conditions. Plow drivers have gotten stuck/slid off road. They have said that approximately 30 minutes after plowing, you can't tell they were there!
Radio announcer this morning: "If you go to a school in the area, its closed. That's easier than reading the list"
Yup just like 3 Mondays ago. St Joe county is having that state of emergency warning again starting at 7pm tonight . It took me and hour to get work this morning when its normally a 25 min drive. This has been one heck of a winter so far. Only 2 more months to go!

Dude, screw accounting, become a teacher! Sure, you get shit for pay and you have to deal with insane parents, but tomorrow will be my 7th day off in January due to weather (8 including MLK Day)!
Anybody got any on-line business ideas?![]()
With a heavy heart, I have to say this prolonged cold weather has taken a heavy toll here in town :

When all is said and done the primary cause for the fire, and hampering effects from the weather will be main contributors to this loss of life. The residents were all safe, however.
Last night a procession of well over a hundred official vehicles, and nearly as many personal vehicles formed a procession as the ambulances transported the fallen firemen from St Vincent's Mercy Medical Center, to the Coroners Office. An arch formed by hundreds of Policemen, Firemen, EMTs and civilians that braved the weather, formed from the back of the ambulances to the doors of the Coroners Office.

We're up to 7 here in Indy! Temps are supposed to start dropping any moment. Last night the idiotic cat wanted to go out to go potty at 3:00AM. As he walked out the door, he looked back and said, Wait here, this won't take long."
Seems like the whole country's gone wimpy. It ain't that cold.
-50 degree windchill here. Just got back from a walk. Brisk but refreshing. Though this is colder than ideal, it's definitely a lot better than temperatures above 80 degrees with humidity. I feel for you Wizards. I think summer is the worst season ever. Can't escape that with more layers. You just have to suffer.

36 (Above) and mostly sunny today here in Anchorage. Heck, it's 12 above in Fairbanks. If you live somewhere that's colder than Fairbanks in January, that's brutal. Please continue to enjoy Alaska's weather for awhile longer. I don't ever remember a January this mild. It'll catch up with us eventually. Be safe.
