May is his traffic court date. There won't be any mention of when Res Life will have their hearing due to student confidentiality.
In the past the ND head coach would make a brief statement at a regular football conference that, for example, Larry Leprechaun will not be with the team for the Fall semester. Short and to the point. But when Spring Ball is over the next football press conference wouldn't be until right before August before preseason camp starts. We'll probably get an indication sooner from Floyd whether he enters the Supplementary Draft or doesn't.
Res Life is between a rock and hard place. Damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they take their time letting the local court process play out, and then hold their hearing, they'll be accused of being unfair and hurting Floyd's opportunity for the supplemental draft. If they hear his case any faster than normal, they'll be accused of favoritism expect "Under The Tarnished Dome" allegations screaming sellout.
As for hurting Micheal's future. His actions set events in motion. Taking a cab or catching a ride with a friend would have prevented it all.
I don't know the Res Life process...but for what you've shared. I did not see anything with regard to prioritization of their "case load"...
...the only thing I am looking for out of any "judicial" body is a methodical process that finds truth, and hands out punishments fairly. It seems to me, Mike isn't disputing anything. So truth seems not to be at issue. To my little brain, the seeking of truth is the long pole here...no need for investigation if the guy says he did it...seems an expedited process is logical, and fair.
It appears then, any favoritism charges would be based on the age old transgression "He butted in line"...Which by the way is exactly the juvenile mentality of Yaeger and Looney in that abomination you reference. (In case you are interested,
Tarnished Pen By Paul Sheehan is a subdued, but spot on treatment of those two criminals.) I agree, there is reason to wince when you have that kind of "journalism" going on. But those are people who lack a soul anyway, and certainly don't fear judgment, and when has ND allowed them to make an impression on their approach?
OK, my point...I'd much rather face "St. Pete" and say I chose to avoid real consequences that could go well beyond the actual punishment, and let Mike "butt" in line (by the way what judicial system does not have a flexible prioritization system for offenses with more serious consequences?).
Not bashing the system...I know there is much good in rigor, but I've also made a living helping government avoid situations where they lose sight of the mission while they merrily go about their "processes"... to me, its just another flavor of situational awareness...to others such thoughts are the path paved to hell...
...just hoping whatever happens is done swiftly...
