BK has got to be, well, I'm not sure how to describe it.
What is wrong with his car? Man this whole car conspiracy nonsense is unnecessary.
A vehicle is a vehicle.
Go nap off your speculation on a grassy knoll somewhere.
I feel like every post on here alluding to the "caddy" should be deleted.
I'm torn...I like that folks bring up stuff I wouldn't immediately think of...but its scary that we have "media" and "other" lurkers who treat such things as more than a couple guys having an interesting conversation...
How old are you, 12? He came from a very humble background in Minnesota, single mom, not a lot of money going around in the house, took the bus to school every day in high school, etc. So the idea of him driving a WHITE CADILLAC as a scholarship athlete at ND raises eyebrows. Not condemning him...just questioning right now. That's all.
Im starting a rumor he was driving a ford escort.....Thats a classy car

What a bunch of BS posts. I don't recall every seeing so much misinformation in a thread.
This isn't MSU or anywhere else like it. This is Notre Dame. Speculation about how other schools or coaches handle such a situation is irrelevant. Coaches don't handle student misconduct at ND, it's handle through the Office of Residence Life & Housing.
ND student's conduct is bound by:
du Lac : A GUIDE TO STUDENT LIFE NOTRE DAME STUDENT HANDBOOK
Here's a link: Residence Life & Housing: du Lac
The Driving Under the Iinfluence description posted by piombino (sorry if misspelled) is taken from Page 114 of that handbook.
ND students are bound by that code of conduct 365/24/7 on campus OR OFF. Doesn't matter what you coffee pot lawyers think is fair. That's the way it is. This is ND.
Unlike Alabama, OSU the coach doesn't get to decide nor plead the player's case. (N.B. IF Res Life doesn't act the coach can still apply "team rules" punishment but that wouldn't be in lieu of any punishment from Res Life.)
This is a student situation as such the resolution is confidential. If Floyd choses to comment public that's his perogative. UND will not comment pursuant to federal law about student confidentiality. Most of the student-athlete's comments in the past have been "no comment" or "I left for personal reasons".
The only thing you will hear from ND is Kelly now is that he is aware of the situation and the University will handle the matter. At a subsequent PC in a few weeks he might tersely note that Floyd will not be with the team for the rest of Spring Ball or will not be with the team for the '11 season.
From past cases like this during the 15 years I've been on ND internet boards, he is likely to face suspension from extracurricular activities for a semester. At ND that means if your a cheerleader your off the squad, if your in the Band, your out, if your in the Glee Club you don't sing with the group.
In the Fall of '05 Rashon Powers Neal got an DUI in Minnesota and he had to go before Res Life and he was suspended. The supension was not for a number of games nor for the season. Suspensions as noted above are for a semester. Weis through that meant through the end of classes for the Fall term and that he would be bowl eligible. He wasn't. ND considers a semester suspension to be in effect until the next semester starts.
During Spring Ball or just before Spring Ball in '97 a TE John Cerasani got into an argument with a teammate over a slur the other made about Cerasani's mother who was terminal. Cerasani slugged him. He had to go before Res Life. He was suspended for the FOLLOWING semester not the current one he was in. He appealed asking for it to be apply to the Spring Term so he would sit out Spring Ball and be eligible for the '97 season. He offered to take any other kind of punishment so his mother could see him play. He was denied and he transferred out of ND. He would have been a senior.
The question at the moment is one of timing, when will Res Life hear his case and when will they enforce any punitive action. Floyd could be suspended like Powers Neal was for the current semester or like Cerasani was for the next semester. It's all about timing.
None of this is new policy. Over 29 years ago Michael Stonebreaker was badly hurt in an automobile accident (DUI) and had to go before Res Life. His driving priviliges on campus were revoked. While on probation he was caught driving, supposedly moving a roommate's car from one parking lot to another. (Comparable to Yeatman's beer drinking violation) He was suspended from Student Activities (read that the football team for the '89 season. He was already an All-American. Unlike Yeatman and Cerasani, Stonebreaker returned to ND for the '90 season.
Dodge Neon... with underbody lights.
Sorry if some people are worried that this situation could actually get worse rather than better. But you're right, ban everyone who's isn't a pollyanna fan. Today those who mention the caddy, tomorrow everyone who doesn't think we're going to win 10 games!
Thanks, BGIF. The rage and off-the-top-of-the-head vulcanism that often permeates the board needs you badly. It's also depressing to see how rapidly and massively the name-calling and stone-throwing escalates. Notre Dame will handle this equitably, and most of it isn't really any of our business. It's a shame that a member of the university has such a problem and we should pray that he gains the inner fortitude to do what is right for him and those whom he affects with his life. 21 is young to expect a fully-formed human being in all elements of his make-up. We should ease off the vicious invective.
And, the football team will be just fine.
...
OSU crew's violations are for recruiting stuff and the tattoo incident if I remember correctly. There's nothing illegal there, just against NCAA rules.
This is a drunk driving incident. It is much worse. It is against the law, and very easily can get people injured or killed.
This is our chance to live up to what we claim to be our standards and what we say others don't. If he's not guilty, he should sit for USF just for stupidity and putting himself in the situation. if he's guilty, it ought to be much longer.

Why stir up rumors and conjecture from nowhere based on no facts? What good does that do besides possibly give some troll or lurker something to run with and then BOOM we have some scandal?
Thanks for looking at the little picture. If you're really "worried" then why post it?
Please tell me you're joking. The exact same comment could be made about every single comment on this thread speculating about the length of the suspension. You don't think that if he gets a light suspension every ND hater will reference the posts in this thread? Beyond that, it's a legitimate question and this is a DISCUSSION board, not a post only what IrishLax approves of board.
