Favorite player in the last 10 years?

I'm surprised so many have Jaylon over Manti. Manti was better and more impact in college, stayed 4 years, and led us to a NC game. How soon we forget.

Manti, Quinn, and Greg Bryant are my favorites.

Manti. Dude took us to the NC game and an undefeated regular season.

Michael Floyd is my number one. He came in and as a true freshman was already a beast. Can't imagine what his numbers would have been if he had been healthy the whole time and had Quinn/Clausen type qb's for four years (sorry Tommy, but God bless you).

Manti and Jaylon are my next. 2a and 2b. Manti was a great player. Stayed four years. Did so much for the team. Jaylon though was/is a freak. Watching him play was a man vs boys type thing. There was little doubt that he was the best player on the field every time he was out there.

BTW, he's a Chargers assistant now. A little weird for Watt, Te'o and Trevor Robinson lol

Manti, Quinn, and Greg Bryant are my favorites.

Then proceeded to get himself into the most embarrassing scenario any player we ever had at Notre Dame.

I don't think anyone forgot that.

Although not everyone's favorite, I liked Jimmy Clausen. He played nearly an entire season with turf toe and never had the benefit of an offensive line that could protect him. If he had a defense to protect the lead once he drove the team down the field to grasp the lead, the won-loss record would have been much improved.

He played with several major handicaps, including a head coach who couldn't coach, an offensive line that couldn't block, virtually no running game to make an opposing defense honest, and a defense that couldn't stop anybody.

Also Danny Spond for what he added to the 2012 defense and all the medical issues that caused him to retire.

Forgot to add Breezy, loved him on A Season With

Absolutely. Watching him congratulate Corey Robinson--fairly sure it was him--after a touchdown catch on A Season With ("You da man!") made me tear up. Always rooted for him, hope he finds some success on an NFL roster if not the Cowboys. It would be well-deserved.

At various times Clausen came off like a bit of a punk. But on Saturdays the dude was a ballplayer. No doubt. With a better team around him, he would've lived up to the impossible hype.

Zbikowski. Remember following his recruitment, ESPN did some pieces on Tommy and Chris Leak. I didn't think he would sign and didn't think much of it at first when he did. Then I remember him yanking that ball out of MSU's running back's hands in that 2004 game. You see guys strip the ball all the time, but it's rare you see someone just pull the ball out and take off without the ball touching the ground. MSU's QB just sat there looking dumbfounded, he had no idea what happened, it was hilarious! It was probably the first really big play of Tommy's career:

Then of course Tommy took off in 2005 between his turnovers on defense, and his punt returns. I was at the USC game and Tennessee, just amazing to see what he could do when the ball was in his hands. I almost wonder what would have happened had he gone to Navy and played QB, he strongly considered it at one point.

In addition to my earlier list, I must also add that Chinedum Ndukwe will always hold a special place in my heart:

Philly said Jaylon was his favorite, ever, in another thread. I'll make it easier on everyone by narrowing it down.

Who is your favorite ND player of the past 10 years? Let's say 2005 (BQ's junior year) to now.

Mine: Theo Riddick
Runners up: Kap, Blanton, Golden

Manti then a bunch at 2--Rudolph/Hayseed/Motta/Hercules/McGlinchy

Golden Tate for me. He was the sh!t. We always had a chance with Tate.

Also, was a huge Tommy Rees fan. It wasn't his fault our QB situation was a disaster, and we don't go 12-0 in 2012 without Rees.

Samardzija is probably my favorite in the timeframe given. Zbikowski and Tate aren't far behind.

I did love Jimmy Clausen. Best quarterback I've seen play at ND.

Favorite players ever are Autry Denson and Derrick Mayes.
