I held off from posting but it appears that round 1 goes to Franky. After 6ish treatments and some setbacks/changes in the treatment plan, the tests/images show no signs of cancer.

He'll have testing/imaging done in 3 and 6 month cycles to continue to monitor it.

It was such an odd cancer that they still hadn't named it last I heard from my sister. Given the genetic profile, they're still uncertain of it's point of origin.

Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts, it was a terribly difficult thing to behold.

This is still a long voyage but for now the seas have calmed.

That is great news. Hopefully the 3 and 6 month tests yield the same results. Will continue to pray for Franky and the family.

Excellent news. Thoughts and prayers tonight not only to them for a continuing good health and complete recovery but also for all the children, parents and their families dealing with similar situations, to Riley and the other cancer centers and their providers and caregivers, and for those researchers who found the genetics, the meds and the protocols that have worked now and in pursuit of the ultimate cure which will bring the greatest joy. Also thoughts for those children and parents throughout the world who do not have the same chances and opportunities that we do.

Hey guys, somewhat removed from me, but my fiancee's Dad's friend's daughter is a med student down in Texas, and she recently got diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in her GI system. She's a really big Cowboys fan and my Fiancee happens to be in a class with Jaylon Smith this semester here at ND, and he gladly signed a jersey for her, left a note, and said he would keep her in your prayers. If you could, please keep Michelle in your prayers!

I just saw this when looking for something else in my posting history. I wanted to give the board an update that hopefully lifts everyone up a little bit.

Franky has had many return visits since the end of his treatment and he's still showing no signs of cancer in his body. It was truly a worst case scenario. A rare cancer that couldn't be truly named because it's point of origin to this day, is still a mystery. It acted kind of like lymphoma, kind of like sarcoma and one other type. The genetic testing revealed confusing information. He was stage 4 twice, first on initial DX, then they thought they beat it back and it showed back up in his spine/skull, chest, etc.

This was a terrifying ordeal. They went to stronger chemo, so strong Franky didn't really "wake up" for days at a time. They then moved forward with a stem cell therapy. That was May 2019 when it had subsided and he had his first checkup.

Here we are at the end of 2022 and he's just a normal kid. He goes to school, likes to play baseball, likes to draw, collects Pokemon cards. I was fairly certain we were going to have a funeral in 2019 but things worked in his favor. Cancer is such an awful beast, it's nice to steal one from it's grasp.

Hopefully this lifts your spirit if nothing else.
