They qualified in South America which is very difficult. On the road they are no where near as good as at home, but they’ve recently beaten Mexico and Greece, and qualified beating Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay

Man, what a match. That is, without a doubt, the best I've ever seen an American side look. It was like watching a European team playing. Total ball control, aggressive, crisp passing, finishing in the final third. I know it's Paraguay, so I'm not getting ahead of myself, but in the past we would have squeaked out a 1-1 draw or maybe won 1-0.

Paraguay conceded just 10 goals over 18 CONBEMOL qualifying matches. They aren't a great offensive team, but they have proven to be a good defensive squad over the last 2 years. And the US just put up 4 goals against them. This is an upper tier attack from the US. Its doesnt have the name recognition of France, Spain, England, Brazil, etc but the parts fit very well and the combination play is exquisite. The US will be a tough out for any team.

Awesome to see the team show to be a consistent attacking threat on what is supposed to be a good defensive team. Watched with some friends last night who don't watch soccer at all and had to explain that I have never seen a US attack look that clean.

Also, the review on the flop that gave a yellow to Paraguay was beautiful. That's a rule change for the better of the sport. Loved it.

(Never seen us "hunt" like that.) Dest was stunningly good. The Coach deserves MAX applause for seeing that and putting him in the forward attack. {I'll now say one thing just to piss folks off: Standing applause for our stabilizer Tim Ream. Great game, old soldier.)

Stunning. As a long time Tottenham fan, the Potch years were some of my favorite. I kept expecting that style - attacking on the front foot/diagonal runs from the midfield/attacking the corners at the 18 - as the US was leading up to the Cup. I never saw it. I was truly disappointed. I assumed he didn’t run that attack because of the lack of players to be able to do it. That was a classic Potch attack. The first half was the best half the USMNT have ever played. McKennie was stellar in the role he is playing. My entire attitude towards the Cup changed last night. What a game.
