I know some of you care so here it is.

AS Roma vs. Shakhtar Donetsk
AC Milan vs. Tottenham Hotspur
Valencia vs. FC Shalke
Inter Milan vs. Bayern Munich
Lyon vs. Real Madrid
Arsenal vs. Barcelona
Marseille vs. Manchester United
Copenhagen vs. Chelsea

Obviously Chelsea has a really easy first round. Arsenal better figure some things out before they play Barcelona. First leg is February 15 or 16 and February 22 or 23. Second leg is March 8 or 9 and March 15 or 16. I am liking the Manchester United draw. haha

I totally forgot that draw was today, thanks for posting IHMM. The Roma - Shaktar matchup took two away from a lot of teams "want to play list." Same with the Valencia - Schalke draw.

Amazing how Man U and Chelsea always seem to get these "draws"...

As an Arsenal fan, that's the last team I wanted to see the Gunners play. As poorly as they're playing right now, Barcelona would roll home and away if they played soon. With the transfer window coming soon, who knows the form they'll be in when they play in January though.

How about the 2010 finals rematch of Inter vs Bayern??? Very interesting!

I think it's hysterical that Arsenal got Barca. One of their players said that they wanted Barca--well, here you go!

My Reds are stuck in Europa, for a few more years at least.

I have to agree with you there.

Inter is struggling, regardless of their performance in the Club World Cup. Maybe it's a sign that their form is returning, but those injuries have really depleted the squad. They most likely won't win Serie A, far too much ground to make up, so they should be focusing on Champions League football.

Bayern is doing equally atrocious in league play, so it would seem likely that they only have Champions League football to play for.

Two squads performing poorly in their domestic leagues should lead to a crucial match-up for validation of both clubs.

I think Arsenal could actually play Barca well. They need Fabregas to get healthy before sending him off to Barca next year. They have the pieces, they just need to learn how to put the puzzle together. I see Barca, at some point, drop in form. They are playing amazingly lately and I just don't see it continuing like that.

Yup. That's the one I can't wait to watch. Only time I will ever root for the Germans.

sh!t and puke... I can't stand certain players on either squad... sure the soccer fans in the room know who I am talking about.

Yeah, but you know how it goes...

Form is temporary, class is premanent... you never know when class is gonna show back up I guess...

The bottome line is... F Champions League... Celtic never cared about it since Stein and the Lysbon Lions Dominated the silly little tourney in the late 60's... (Only Quadruple winner in history Bohys)

Sky Sports better show some Scottish Cup this year... Damned English Whores.

If we don't care about the Champions League then I'm sure it will be news to you that Rangers were eliminated. :)

As a supporter of none of these teams but mostly an EPL follower, I find the AC Milan v Spurs matchup interesting. Inter Milan aren't doing as well this year because Mourinho left and their manager is Rafa Benitez, who will be sacked soon enough in my opinion. Bayern Munich should win that matchup, and I think Arjen Robben just returned from injury.

Now, I'm always keeping an eye on Harry Redknapp at Spurs. He's the leading successor to replace Fabio Capello for the England job after Euro 2012, so he will be coaching England probably at the next World Cup (I know, it's far away but you have to think long term sometimes!).

I'm just interested to see how Harry tactically plays these big-time teams, and as an England fan, I'm generally interested to see how he does.

We don't care, but they do... they have never really competed in Champions League... we have been to multiple finals...

Huns getting smacked is something every freedom loving member of this plaent should always care about.

They are The Black Mark on Scotland afterall. Hell on all of humanity for that matter.

Marseille vs. Manchester UnitedCopenhagen vs. Chelsea

If I'm not mistaken, Real Madrid played Lyon in last year's opening round? They were beaten 1-0 at Lyon but then won at Madrid. I think Copenhagen could possibly (very slim) upset Chelsea.

Chelsea has been struggling recently, and although the January transfer window will surely see Roman Abromavich go on a spending-spree, I think I read in an article today that Barca (and Inter maybe? Some other team), didn't win in the group stage at Copenhagen. Basically, it's a hard place to play, and if they can somehow pull of a win at home and then a draw against Chelsea, they'd be through.

Hopeful thinking more than anything, I guess. :)

Yes, I do believe Barca tied Copenhagen in Denmark. It seems that each Champions League, there is one team that gives Barca trouble. Rubin Kazan last year and Copenhagen this year. I think Chelsea will return to the class they showed last year and earlier this year. As much as I'd like to see them out of the competition, they should beat Copenhagen IMO. Who knows though, they've gotten Lampard back and appear to be playing better they (like any other team) could lose a player(s) before January. I think they lost Alex a little while ago, not a huge loss but a loss nonetheless.

I like Celtic too, probably not with the fervor you do but being Irish-Catholic, it's my religious and nationalistic duty to root for the Bhoys and hate Rangers.

If what you say is true that Celtic doesn't care about the UCL, I think they should. Wrong or right, there is a lot of money in the Champions league. I forget what teams get moneywise but for teams at this level, its in the area of 30 million euros.

I was being facetious... their last manager just dismanlted a consistent European contender and now they are rebuilding...

they can't even hang in europa right now...

I'm not Irish nor Catholic... in fact I have every reason to side with Rangers in those terms... Scottish decent, non Catholic Christian... but I've always been a big Celtic guy... plus Jennifer Love Hewitts tits look rockin in a Celtic Jersey.

lol

Spurs deserved the win. Milan resorted to thuggery in the second half, it was embarrassing. I was rooting for the Anglophone team for obvious reasons, but after that two footed dive on Corluka, I got a bit more into it. Once Gattuso went head to head with a 60 year old man, I was exclaiming **** Off Milan when Crouchy sent it in.

I am psyched for the Arsenal/Barca fixture tomorrow. Huge potential and naturally I'll root for the Gunners because Barca is too damn good.

Slipstreamtv.com always has HD quality feeds of matches. It's become my number one choice for watching EPL and CL matches. I have no affiliation, just passing it out there for others who need to watch a lot of soccer.

Screw you guys!!!! :)

AC is my team... didn't get to watch the whole game but from the highlights it looked like the refs really screwed them over.

I watched the whole game, it wasn't the refs. They had no attack in the first half, and just played a dirty game in the second. They threatened more after the break, but Spurs thoroughly deserved the win.
