Croatia looks like a very good team.

Been repping them on Fifa for awhile.

Been on the Croatia hype train for a while (they are my pick to win the tournament) but Argentina is just bad. Messi looks like a player completely disinterested. I will actually be surprised if he doesn't retire from international duty after this tournament.

Also true...mind boggling how bad Argentina is. They have the best player of all time, Higuain. Ageuro. Dybala. Star studded attack.... and nobody else.

Average midfield at best anchored by a declining Mascherano and a terrible defense and GK situation. It's not getting any better for Argentina. Their youth teams are struggling to produce good defenders and GKs as well. I guess if they can figure out a way to outscore teams they'll be okay in the future but it's gonna be a while before they're dominant again, IMO

Me 2 dude. Since Italy didn;t qualify, I've been telling everyone I am cheering for Poland, but Croatia is my team that I think is going to shock everyone and go super deep. Maybe even win the whole tournament. Everyone thought I was crazy. But with Modric, Rakitic in the middle. And then the have Kovacic at their disposal to sub on and basically play anywhere on the pitch, they are completely set up to dominate teams in the midfield. Perisic isnt even playing very well yet, and Super Mario Mandzukic is just a terror. He harrasses defenders all game long.

In the knock out stage, Croatia is looking like they will play Denmark, and then either Spain of Portugal in the Quarters. If they continue to play like this, they can beat all of those teams.

Argentina left Paredes, Perrotti, and Icardi at home. Icardi is a goal scorer, thats all there is to it. He may not be as good as Aguero with the ball on his feet, but hes bigger faster and better in the air then Aguero. Higuain is a waster of a squad spot IMO.

Then Perrotti is certainly better than this Meza kid they played out wide left today.

Paredes is a deep lying midfielder that passes like Pirlo and cant play defense like Gattusso, but they left him at home.

They messed up big time with their roster.

And then they pretty much bench Dybala. If they were smart they would play Dybala, take some of the pressure and talk away from Messi, and but it on Dybala.

Sampaoli really f'd this one up.

Denmark would be a cake walk for them IMO. Erikson is a stud but their midfield will get completely dominated. Hope they don't have to meet Spain til the final because I think they might be the two best teams in the tournament (so far).

I 100% agree. They've both played very well and look strong.

Lichtsteiner can show our safeties a thing or two about tackling. Serbs looked gassed towards the end and were outplayed in the second half but the outcome may have been far different if Mitrovic gets that call.

Croatians have looked like a threat to win, I agree. Just not sure if they're as good they seem or if Argentina's awful performance helped make them look like a potential cup winner.

I'm not as down on Messi as everyone else on TV. I believe that Argentina's midfield play is so unimaginative and unskilled that it is nearly impossible to engage him in the game. Modric and Rakhitic made that horribly real of course, but what-the-hell is Messi supposed to do when the ball is never really under control on his side of the pitch?

As to Croatia: I'd happily root for them but it's hard with Mandzucic (I know lousy spelling) being such a douchebag combination of dirty play and crybabying --- admittedly a "winner" of games.

Spain looks good. Ronaldo and any 10 able to walk seems to look good. Belgium has possibilities.

What a match!! What a clutch, unbelievable strike from Kroos! In the 95th minute too. Man Germany is going to age me 10 years, especially since I've been sick.

Feeling sorry for Lewandowski. No help.

That pass by Rodriquez to set up the third goal was F'ing nasty. Best pass of the WC so far that I've seen.

Wooooooow I don't know about that late VAR/handball call lol.

I've been rooting for Iran in this match, because I like an underdog, but I don't think that guy's arm was in an unnatural position at all... it's natural to flare your arms out when your trying to generate power when jumping.

And it's not like he even had time to react to it to intentionally touch the ball with his arm, anyway. It was a glancing ball in a fraction of a second.

Sheesh.

I'd say Robert deserves better. Feel bad for him. Poland should be a better footballing country

Make up call for the other two close ones in the box he missed.

Once he was called back to the video, I think the ref had to make the call for a penalty. He shouldn’t have been called back. Clearly didn’t deserve a penalty.

Yup. While Poland isn't one of my favs, I root for good Catholics lol.

Today's matches were interesting. Not a fan of any of the teams that played, but happy Russia got the shit kicked out of them, and glad to see Iran not make it. Hoping Spain kicks the crap out of Russia this weekend.

Hoping Iceland or Argentina can sneak in tomorrow.

VAR, imo, has been more successful than not this WC but to expect each domestic league tie to have an army of referees dedicated to the program as they are now isn't reasonable.

I dislike all forms of replay in sport, but VAR this WC has been the most efficient version of the lot.

Seems like it's coming, might as well roll with the punches when it does.

Come on you Yanks errrr COYBIG errrrr ..... Arriba La Celeste!!

The only time I didn't like VAR was yesterday. Even so, it was the right call to use VAR, but really thought they still got the call wrong. It was the Egypt V Saudi Arabia game. The second penalty for Saudi Arabia in the 1st half. Dude went down way too easy. So to award the penalty, review it, and keep the penalty, while also then giving a yellow was bad.

This is where I am at. I thought VAR has been excellent everyday besides yesterday, in particular the second half of the Portugal match. It was a comedy of errors by VAR. Ronaldo should have been shown straight red. William Carvalho should have conceded a PK. The PK handball shouldn't have been called.

It has overall been good. Yesterday was an exception.

So Iceland needs to beat Croatia, and they need Argentina to beat Nigeria, but only by one goal.
