Euro soccer is such dogshit... it's getting to where I don't even care anymore... Celtic wins a double treble (first in history) and has to go through five qualifying rounds to get into "Champions" league but the fourth place finishers in a number of other leagues are auto qualified already... what a load of piss. I don't care what league is this or that, champions should get in... then auto bid the second and third place from there from the big money leagues from there until the auto spots are taken and let everyone else qualify.

With the number of leagues in Europe.... i'm not sure it would work.

So let's let the fourth place French team in automatically........ whatever, all this does is separate the big four more and more. I'm basically a MLS and occasional Celtic game guy now. I have zero interest in watching Real win big in Europe for the 90th time.

I’d say that’s a bit apples/oranges,... but taking your question at face,... Because I’m Scottish and a Celtic fan? I didn’t say I still watch the SPFL and Celtic religiously, I said I watch an occasional Celtic game... I would add the dynamic in Scotland the last five years or so has been created in large part by the greater dynamic in Europe I’m touching on, it’s very much a zero sum game with the TV contracts, Euro payouts and such... It’s not just Scotland, the same thing is happening with other historical giants like Ajax, Porto, Olympiakos and others.

Over the past year or so? Yeah... it’s been dwindling hard, I watched every game I could for years there tho. I talk about soccer topics that interest me, and with Celtic is easy to think, ‘I’ll share that’ than say my Galaxy because just about everyone on this board likes Celtic for one reason or another even if they aren’t ‘their team/club’... tho isn’t fair to say the vast majority of the thread is epl stuff?

+7 isn't it? But yes, they are looking a lot stronger than I thought they would. I had doubts as Saudi sucks, but 3-1 over Egypt was more than expected. If they run through Uruguay, is Group A the Group of Charmin, or is Russia the real deal? Regardless, I still bet they get rolled in the knock out round by Spain or Portugal...

Biggest surprise of the day was Senegal. Can't blame Senegal for doing anything wrong, and the timing on that break was so crazy it's hard for me to blame officiating.

I feel that. I would have a lot to say about my Union but literally no one would care haha. Also I forgot you're a west coast sports fan, european soccer doesn't mix too well with that.

Really? I haven't seen them in about a year but did they change their tactics? When they were rolling they were one of the worst watches I've ever encountered in sports... just so slow and methodical with their build up. It was effective, I could admire their ability to pull it off but for a neutral fan it was just terrible to watch. They were the real life version of:

They were a lot more fun to watch against Portugal cuz Portugal played them straight up, and if it wasn’t for Ronaldo magic that game is 3-0 or 3-1. Iran literally had every man defend in their defensive third. Tough to break down. I expect the same against Morocco. Will be a lot better to watch in round of 16.

Only reason I can’t fully get behind them is because of Costa. Hate that man.
