Reports that Marco Silva to be confirmed as Everton manager today.

Didn't he get sacked by Watford?

Yeah. He was first linked to the Everton job end of November. At that point in the season, Watford had 21 points. When he was fired in January, 10 games later, they had 26 points. Sounds like there may have been some distractions.

It's mostly true to life, except you can switch out teams for Italy, Chile, the Netherlands and the US. No qualifying.

Had a lot of fun with it today tho. My buddy beat me (France) with Australia a game before I dominated him (Argentina) with Iceland. Maybe it's prophetic?

They have Croatia in the update. Sooo much fun playing with that midfield of Modric, Rakitic, and Perisic.

Subtract the top 5 favorites of Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Germany, and France. Who would you bet on to make a run to the final? I wanna go with Croatia because their midfield is so damn good, but they're in the group of death and if they finish second in their group, they have to face likely France. Belgium is a lock to at least get second with Panama, Tunisia, and England in their group. If they win, they'd play runner up from group H which has Colombia, Senegal, Japan, and Poland. That's a good draw for them.

Also, hot take alert Portugal doesn't make it out of the group stage. Morocco or Iran finish second.

If Salah isn't hampered by his injury... I say watch for Egypt. They can get out of Group A, maybe give a scare to Spain or Portugal.

Liverpool is going after Lyon's Nabil Fekir, but Lyon's president is tough to deal with. Won't be a straightforward deal and it likely won't get done until after the World Cup. They're also talking with goalkeeper Allison from Roma as well.

Fekir is a great attacking midfielder and would replace Coutinho well for Klopp.

Kompany is injured again.

Yaya Toure had some very strong words about Pep Guardiola.

Ramos not only takes out Salah in the Champions League Final, but it is now confirmed that Karius sustained a concussion.

Solid day at the office for Ramos.

Can we institute a new rule any player that gets cut from a WC prelim roster from Germany has to play for the US? Can't believe Sane didn't make it.

BREAKING: @SFR_Sport state that
Houssem Aouar will sign a new 5 year deal at Lyon and is viewed as a replacement for Nabil Fékir in Lyon's number 10 role.

Could if when not if as it relates to Fekir to Liverpool.

Klopp could get his keeper and another wide player, call it a summer.

Lichtsteiner to Arsenal on the free transfer. Should provide good cover at RB.

"Fabricated to make Karius feel better" ... LOL. How credulous can anyone get? Ramos is a known thug/roughass and everyone who roots for Real seems fine with it.

I used to root rather strongly for the OLD Pistons, but turn my head when Mahorn would take someone out. He was a near-criminal thug but at that weak moment he was my thug. (I also shamelessly tried to recruit a monster thug to play center on my Cleveland city league team [BBall.] Fought my conscience with that. Holy Spirit saved me by having him accept an assistant coaching job at Western Reserve.)

I get the fantasy loyalty thing, but geeez. Dirty player, and taking out Salah diminishes soccer bigtime.

Liverpool are really trying to move Lyon along with Nabil Fekir before the World Cup.

He gets injured, Lyon may not get anything from anyone.

Roma keeps on spending, in the meantime.

Thought several of our players played very well. Wood may have done as well as I've seen him. We were generally cleverer with the ball in tight spaces, and the centerbacks looked stout until the Miazga headbutting. Goalie? Maybe something there too.

Would have liked to see more of Sargent as I think he can use the big game atmosphere but Wood was good. McKennie still impresses as a physical don't back down player with skills. Adams played better than I usually have thought. Trapp was Trapp --- pillar of salt in with the pepper. If we were going to Russia though I still think we'd need Bradley there one last time. Maybe Cameron too. Not sure who else from the veterans.

When Pulisic and Yedlin are inserted into this mix, we might be coming back.

Steffen must have cemented his spot as the #1 yesterday. Hamid blew his chance, and I'm not going to pretend to have ever watched Yarbrough, but based off of people's opinions who claim to have watched him, he's not the answer.

Also agree about Sargent, really, really hope he can make some noise with Werder Bremen this year. He looks super confident.

Adams and McKennie will be playing in this midfield for years to come. Trapp...will not. I hope.

Disagree about Wood though, I personally thought he was baaaad. I might be alone in that thinking, idk.

I didn’t get to watch the whole game but ESPN gave him Wood a bad player rating

Steffen has the job as long as he is healthy going forward.

I will gladly take a 1-1 draw against France's likely starting XI for the World Cup when we weren't even featuring many of our best players in Yedlin, Pulisic, and Brooks, not to mention the exiled vets.

I am very optimistic about the US going forward. It is going to be fun watching all these guys who are already performing well come of age.

I really like the 5-3-2. With our plethora of CB options there is no reason we shouldn't be rolling with 3 CBs with Yedlin and Robinson as wingbacks. Play Mckennie and Adams at CM and Pulisic at CAM. Also if we need a goal it is way easier to adjust out of that formation into a 4-3-3 or 4-2-4, you just sub out one of the CBs for a winger

The team certainly exceeded expectations. Most were calling for 5-0 win by France,,,, so I'll take it. France still dominated possession, and passing was scary. Defense was good. Not sure I am a fan of the formation. Steffen's save at the end was awesome. Parker and Green did very well IMO.

Agree on your comments on Bradley if we were headed to the dance.

Unfortunately, I think we did France a favor giving the a wake up call. I hope they shit the bed in group play.

Here's for what it's worth (agreed not much from this amateur) why I said that Wood played a better game than I've seen from him.

My previous estimation of Wood was that he is a super effort guy who helps you press but not a lot else. In this game I saw him very often use exceptional strength to hold off French defenders to give teammates chances to come forward on the attack. Then, especially during the middle part of the game, he had several plays where he rather cleverly got the ball to teammates in very tight quarters thereby extending possession and opportunities. This is something I had not seen him do before.

As the most forward striker I can see griping about his play if he doesn't actually get on final balls, but I felt that he did a lot more than that archetypical last strike task.

.... but what do I know?

.... and I'm giving us something pleasant to talk about during off season.

You're right here OMM, but Wood's style is pretty useless when we're bunkering the whole game and there isn't much to press. That said, he did play the right ball to Moore that led to the Sidibe error for our goal and I do agree, he had some skillful moments in tough spaces. Should also be worth mentioning Wood is definitely not in form. He was injured for half of Hamburg's season and he had zero supporting cast when he was healthy. Hopefully he gets a move to a lower side in the Bundesliga that at least has a competent attack unlike Hamburg or maybe one of the top Dutch sides so he can also play Europa or UCL. I think he'd be a great fit at AZ Alkmaar or Feynoord, though he would have to take a sizable pay cut that he probably isn't willing to take.

ah dude, for real?

Yes, dead serious. It was sour enough being in Russia and then Qatar... neither of which should have happened. Then Scotland and USMNT failing at the very last, screw it... I'm honestly not sure if I'll watch any of it.
