You forgot Pulisic as Salah is going to Madrid.

Edit: I don't even really say that to troll. Idk how Liverpool can rationally from a business stand point hold onto him when he will probably be the most expensive transfer ever.

How could Salah co-exist with Ronaldo? Ronaldo barely likes it when anyone else scores. Maybe the most ego-centric "team" player I've seen in soccer. "Jordanesque." And speaking of that: why not go for Bale if you thought your star was leaving?

Do we know what Salah's transfer fee is estimated at? I think Bale was at $25 m salary this last year which is double that of Salah, plus whatever his transfer fee is. Not sure if Liverpool would even mess with that if they have already spent what they have and are trying to land Alisson. Whoever gets Bale next, and its looking like he is surely leaving this summer, Bale's wages could be $30m a year plus transfer fee.

I know he's done a good job of defying age thus far but if Salah were to go to Madrid, I'd almost consider it a "handing of the torch" type of deal. CR7 is going to be 34 next season. Most players start to decline after 31 or 32. Even if age doesn't catch up to him this season, it surely will the following.

That said, good point about Bale. My Pulisic comment was half in jest, but a reunion of Klopp and Pulisic does seem inevitable at some point in his career. If a Salah transfer were to happen, they could easily get Bale + Transfer Fee in return and Pulisic. I'd hate it as a USMNT fan not seeing Pulisic starting every week, but his versatility to play centrally or out wide would still have him see plenty of caps for 'pool. Can't see Bale going anywhere in the prem though other than Man United or Tottenham.

Please let Sargent start up top and Miazga and Yedlin get to play alongside on the "right" back line to get familiar with one another (I believe that the Mexico coach retards his team by all the unstable relationships --- he succeeds in a way because they're so dammed deep. Hopefully we don't make the same mistake going forward.)

I'd like to see more of McKennie and Rubin also. I missed whether Parks was picked for that team, but if so, him too. Also, if Yarbrough swilled any of that Mexican goalie juju potion, get him in the game. That team sprouts goalkeepers.

I think they'll hold on for another year or two.

I got an invite to the Cincy MLS announcement earlier. Had many celebratory drinks during the announcement. Chatted with Taylor Twellman a bit.

Really good night, really excited for MLS in Cincy.

Hopefully they build intelligently and quickly like LAFC.

About a year ago, it was "Can he play in the Premier League?" and "Chelsea Reject."

Now he's going to Real Madrid to replace Ronaldo.

It would appear FSG/Edwards/Klopp have their sites set on Oblak or Allison. If they wind up with Jack Butland, there will have been several zigs where there should have been zags.

Congrats buddy. Did I read it right that the proposed stadium is only 21k? Surprised me with how well they do at Nippert. Expected at least 25K.

21k is their jumping off point for year one. I think they view that as their sweet spot considering the projected price increases for tickets, particularly at the club level.

The stadium is being designed for easy expansion, though. If the price jump (or being bad on the field for the first year or two) doesn't have an effect on attendance, they can expand to 25k pretty easily from what I've heard and seen. They're also working on a plan for after THAT if necessary, where they can expand to 30k.

I saw a rendering somewhere with the proposed stadium with blue schematics, and projected expansion zones were overlayed in red. They will basically have pretty open "corners" of the stadium where they can add support and seating as necessary.

Not sure what to make of all this. I would take $100 mil in cash and Bale for sure though.

I'd ask for more money rather than take Bale, especially if they want to line up a move for Pulisic or Dembele. I don't see Klopp taking Bale, who is about to turn 29, when all of their moves to this point have been for younger players in their early twenties.

Bale seems like a great fit for Chelsea right now, and they have Hazard as a bargaining chip for Real. Bale wants to play. He can play at Chelsea. Hazard is a more proven article than Salah at this point.

Should Salah stay at Liverpool, his 18/19 campaign will be interesting. It will be hard to duplicate this previous season, but if he has a midfield of Fabinho, Keita and Fekir behind him with Firmino and Mane still up front, it's hard to imagine him wanting to go to an aged Real squad.

Hell, I think Emre Can needs his head examined for wanting to leave this team.

Has anyone else suffered a kind of soccer lag since the failure to qualify?? Before that BS soccer may have been my number 2 sports interest... I'd be lying if I said that in the last 6 months or whatever it's been that my soccer mojo hasn't taken a serious hit. I have a hard time finding the energy to care/watch much currently.

That is cruel lol.

I have no love for Columbus or Columbus-based sports, but I hope the Crew stick around up there and get some new ownership or something. The HELL IS REAL derby needs to be a thing between Cincy and Columbus. It's a natural rivalry.

Plus, it would be nice to head two hours north for an away day every year.

Just root for America's team this World Cup...

Nah I feel you man. I am trying to get excited for the World Cup but I just can't. I can't even latch onto my roots of Italy or Ireland. I haven't full decided but am close to declaring my allegiance to Senegal because of Mane and Balde Diao

Yeah, I will go for Germany, if I watch at all... I honestly don't know if I'm gonna go full pass this time around... it's not just international play though. I haven't really been able to get up for any kind of soccer lately.

I can't wait for the World Cup. It hurts that the US and Ireland won't be there, but a WC-record 17 players from City going certainly helps.

Also, downloading the FIFA World Cup update right now. That's what I'll be doing with the rest of my day.

I dont have a horse in the race for the first time. So I'm going to watch this WC completely stress free. Actually pretty excited about it. I think Im going to pull hard for Poland and Japan. Japans jerseys are so sick.

I never really watch the EPL... I mean I tried in the past when it was the only thing on but just can't get into it... I'll watch Newcastle games and that's about it.

Subtract the top 5 favorites of Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Germany, and France. Who would you bet on to make a run to the final? I wanna go with Croatia because their midfield is so damn good, but they're in the group of death and if they finish second in their group, they have to face likely France. Belgium is a lock to at least get second with Panama, Tunisia, and England in their group. If they win, they'd play runner up from group H which has Colombia, Senegal, Japan, and Poland. That's a good draw for them.

Also, hot take alert Portugal doesn't make it out of the group stage. Morocco or Iran finish second.

Is the FIFA World Cup update true to life, or could I go through qualifying and play with the US if I wanted to?

It's mostly true to life, except you can switch out teams for Italy, Chile, the Netherlands and the US. No qualifying.

Had a lot of fun with it today tho. My buddy beat me (France) with Australia a game before I dominated him (Argentina) with Iceland. Maybe it's prophetic?

Real fired Zidane? Lol.

No, he is leaving. There was a lot of speculation this would happen no matter the result on Saturday.

In other news:

Spanish media are reporting that Mauricio Pochettino's new contract at Tottenham contains a clause that would allow him to leave Spurs for either Real Madrid or PSG.

There was plenty of speculation he'd be connected to this job once it opened. Based on the style his teams play, you would have to think they're going to inquire with Spurs about him. Then go after Kane, Hazard, Salah, etc.
