Yep they are going after benzema. I think de bruyne to city is a forgone conclusion and shouldn't affect their pursuit of benzema. I think benzema would substantially strengthen the team because pelligrini like using a 4-4-2 and I'm not convinced with Bony yet

I would prefer a center back rather than a forward but Benzema is really good. Best midfield and attack in the EPL if they can sign Benzema and De Bruyne

Just giving you a hard time, being a brat.

oh, okay haha. I know ESPN put out a video of an "NYCFC supporters group" attacking a RBNJ supporter group.

Put it "" because the supporters group is not a supporters group, its a hispanic skinhead group (didnt know that was a thing) that just happen to be NYC fans.

If Yaya Toure can retain this form throughout the season and not the form he was in most of last year, City is going to be dominant.

Apparently they made a bid for Benzema too

I don't even know if it was "most" of last year; I would've just said after the AFCON. I remember watching early season games last fall and thinking he was the best midfielder in the league. Then he left for international duty, and when he came back I couldn't even believe it was the same player.

Only saw the first 60 minutes...damn, that first half was BEYOND dull. There were literally no highlights, except for a half chance from Stoke that was blocked. I was also disappoint Flamino didn't start.

Incidentally, if I HAD to choose an EPL team, it would be Liverpool. Have always loved Steven G, plus Torres was at his absolute apex when he was with them, and he was my favorite striker forever. And now my coworker is a huge fan. So I was happy with the win, but I'm hoping they'll play MUCH better, or they're not making the top 4.

Very dull. Once Firmino is starting (he will once fully in shape) they'll look a bit better. Also... Benteke could use a few weeks at least to really fit in.

My ideal lineup.

Forward line: Coutinho, Benteke, Firmino.
Midfield engine: Milner, Henderson, with Can holding.
Defense: Moreno, Sahko, Skrtel, Clyne.

That's assuming Sturridge is not healthy. If he is... Might need to pull a Peligrini and use a 4-4-2 like it's 2006. Who knows.

I'm honestly feeling top 4. Maybe the Red River water supply has been poisoned but I'm full of optimism.

I agree, although I don't see any of our cb targets ending up at city. Plus mangala and kompany were solid today, although I guess we will really know if they are solid after Chelsea

USL is the way to go right now if your looking to get a franchise in the US. The NASL, while it is second division, will likely only last a few more years. Also, USL teams have the fast track to MLS if they are successful. Should be a fun club to support.

I wonder if we will ever see a second division stable enough to work with the MLS in terms of relegation and promotion.... I'd love to see it but I doubt the MLS ownership would ever go for it.

It's gonna be MLS 1 and MLS 2 pretty much. It won't happen though until MLS reaches 24 teams. Second division would start with mostly USL clubs than aren't affiliated with MLS clubs, a couple NASL clubs like the Cosmos, and a few others. Also, it is where expansion clubs would begin. Don Garber talked about it a few months ago.

That is also a big if because it is to be seen if MLS can handle 24 professional clubs. Right now with 20 it seems to be a really good situation, but there a few clubs who are really underperforming in some key metrics off the field. Don't want any new clubs like Chivas, Tampa Bay, etc.

Step 7 sticks in my craw...

Ah, bullshit. They don't throw their weight around any more than Barca/Real/the EPL Big 4.

And unlike those teams, they have done things to help the economic health of other teams in Germany and the league.

People like Klopp can piss and moan, but other teams would try to be like Bayern if they could get it worked out - not just on the field, but in how they run the club, too.

Bayern honestly doesn't spend that much on transfer fees anyway. They got Lewandowski on a free.
They have only had two transfers in their existence over 30 million Euros. Not bad compared to what some of these other clubs spend.

I respect what Bayern does. They are a machine. I just don't like em.

From my perspective the Gotze thing and the timing of it all still just sucks to all hell and gone, and it's sports, so you're damn right I blame Bayern... they are to blame for world hunger and No Child Left Behind also... fuckin commie bastards.

Ha-ha, because I didn't read your complaint as specific to Lewa/Goetze. I read it as you being disgusted with a "if you can't beat em, buy em" approach.

I understand your bitch in specific context of those 2 guys tho.

It's much more 'fun' rivalry than Celtic Rangers tho... I can like actually know and communicate with Bayern fans... even watch a game with them too...

I once found out I worked with a Rangers fan... I put in my two weeks later that day.

Celtic needs to join the EPL ASAP. Hell, start em out in League Two if you wanna make it fair, they will get promoted every year.

Start them in the very bottom level of English football for all I care... seriously... it's the only thing holding them back... actually I am of the school that everyone NOT from the UK sees how stupid it is that in 2015 they all have their separate leagues, international teams and FA's... it's just stupid, talk about living in a bubble from 50 years ago... they should have a British PL, international team and one single FA imo.

Maybe the national team wouldn't suck so bad then.

Jk it probably still would. Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsay, they are about the only Welsh players that would crack England right now. Are there any Scottish or Northern Irish players of that quality?

I will say this, if I live a full life of normal expectancy, I will live to see Celtic in the EPL, Rangers too... the squeaky wheel always gets the grease eventually and they won't give up on the issue until they get a spot.

the competition and numbers alone would improve the final product and yeah, there are Irish and Scottish players that would crack the squad... both have had world class talents over the years at varying times.

I am talking currently though. I can honestly not name one world class Northern Irish player. Scottish, I can think of maybe one or two in Darren Fletcher and Charlie Adam, but even then, they would be fringe players. But yeah, would definitely improve the final product just due to sheer numbers.

Right now Scotland is at an almost all time low point... but they have young talents like Gauld, Bannan and Stevens that may get looks... and with England having struggled so much with finding quality strikers and finishers to compliment Rooney this past generation I would guess Naismith, Miller and Fletcher would all have gotten a look, of course this would have been 5 years ago or more but yeah... Alan Hutton would have been on the team too at his peak... To my point, if they joined up in the 70's and 80's Argentina and Germany are probably both short a World Cup title now.

with Ireland I don't know a single NI player period. I'm thinking more Ireland, which would prob not be a part of this but for the sake of the fun of it.....

and...

Honestly, I think English soccer is among, if not THE, most over rated and over hyped team(s) in all of sports... a large amount of their players are too... just my opinion. So to think other British teams' players wouldn't crack their first team doesn't fly with me. Bale alone would vastly improve the team. All just my opinion of course.
