Reminds me of NCAA cases where teams committed violations in the past. How much do you punish present players who often had very little to do with the situation. How much can you actually punish the decision makers with real consequences.
You relegate the team as far down as possible. Bye bye revenue. Bye Bye butts in seats. Bye bye tv contracts. Bye bye Europe.

As a City fan, who picked them as a team before the takeover, I’m ready for them to suck again. I have more experience with losing teams anyway.

I’ve never been this optimistic about the 10 field players and more pessimistic about the situation in goal. I’ll settle for a Guzan quality keeper. How did this happen?
Our best goalkeepers are all playing basketball. Wait, that's the other way around.

The back four is going to be the big Q mark going forward. Otherwise, the future looks bright with what it coming up in attack and midfield.

It would suck for the Premier League, but it needs to be done. It's a significantly big story just about everywhere but here, which is no surprise, and it's rather unprecedented in terms of the charges and findings.

League Two would make sense. They'll probably break all kind of records along the way and they'll be back up in three years, but that's not the point in the end. I would also suggest that anyone that managed to win a title during this period or any other domestic trophies has truly accomplished something. This club has been a juggernaut during this time.

The only real winners in this are all of the lawyers.

So what happens with Man City? They go down and few leagues with the same players? Or do the players get to leave? Seems like their punishment would be very short lived and would really just take away opportunities for other teams to realistically earn promotion.

They can be sent down, docked points to start that new season, and there SHOULD be a limit placed on how quick they can be promoted so they don't just come right up in 3 years.

Many players may decide to remain. Others could exit, especially with the reduced salaries that will have to be implimented.

I assume there could also be closed door matches for City even, so they receive little to no gate money for games at the lower levels too.

It's unprecedented.

The fact Guardiola left at the end of last season and they stocked up on players over the summer means they likely saw this coming or at the very least anticipated it would be coming. None of it sounds good and despite their statement of defiance, something should and likely will be done in terms of punishment.

Could care less about stripping titles. You certainly can do that, but awarding titles to Liverpool, Man United, Arsenal, etc. rings hollow. Relegation, transfer limitations, financial fines. Everything is on the table.

Chelsea should be next.

I often wonder if I was local and lived near a major soccer team like that. Would you rather be League 1 type with lower costs and expectations. Have the dream of being promoted and all that. Probably have a more local vide to team. Vs top premiere team, huge costs, travel burden to games, expectations, rarely any local players on team etc.

So its a season for each level they get sent down to? And if they reduce salaries why would any of them stay?

I'm merely speculating what I would like to see. You get sent to whatever level, you obviously could win promotion within that first season to the next level. That's why I would, personally, like to see a promotion ban for at least a couple years.

That's just it with the players. Some, maybe they stay. Others will absolutely want to get out. The reason I would want to have a ban on promotion is so that nothing like what happened with Juventus happens here. They were relegated from Serie A to Serie B. They basically kept all their players, and won promotion that first year. That isn't truly a punishment.

You have to make it harsh enough that players want out, and that Citeh have to reset.

The punishment has to be handed down first. Everything is speculation at this point. People are writing off Haaland to Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

There really isn't any kind of comparison anyone can point to and determine what is going to happen here.

So for someone who isn't all in on the EPL at all... can anyone do me a solid and just give me a cliff notes on what Man City did?

Honestly they are doing similar to what a lot of college football programs are doing but to a billion dollar extreme. Fake shell companies, fake work, all to show more revenue to pay for better players. This is the extremely over simplified version.

Sportswashing.

In addition, they were found to have not been fully cooperative with the investigation and some people on the panel were found to have given false or dishonest testimony and evidence.

Owners and players will come and go. These clubs have been around for over 100 years. It's the supporters I feel bad for, mainly Mancunians who have been supporting City for decades.

They actually tried to win by investing in their club unlike United, whose owners run that club on the cheap so they can siphon as much money as possible out of it. Because, the big, established clubs, don’t want new money in the sport, City was forced to get creative.

Technically, they cheated their balls off.

From what my dumbass can surmise, they were claiming sponsorship money from sponsors that weren't actually paying it and it was actually being funded by the ownership group, which apparently is against the rules or something?

What they did is fucking fraud.

These owners don't really give a shit about these teams. They want to turn a profit. City's owners have more money than they can possibly know what to do with. Owning the team was never about making money for them.

Julian Hall's situation between USA and Poland appears to be getting clearer. He has two USA caps and a 4th would make him a USA international. That could happen Saturday and Tuesday.

I want to see these young guys get in against Mexico. What a test for these teenaged newcomers to get right into the rivalry.
