I'm the opposite. I can't get into the Bundesliga bc it's just too much soccer. Between the EPL, La Liga, and trying to at least keep up with the MLS, I can't even imagine trying to also watch German football. And that's not to mention I get Saturdays in the fall for college football.

My poor wife would be a widower (after she killed me).

Stop watching MLS or LA Liga. :) Bundesliga is fun.

Besides Manchester City matches or some marquee games, I plan on dropping the EPL. There is some major quality there, but they play such a boring style and it is not the best league in the world anymore. I don't have a Bundesliga team but I definitely plan on tuning into those games especially ones that feature Yanks.

It hasn't been the best soccer in quite awhile (I think we argued this a couple of years ago, no? Welcome to the right side haha). But it's easily the best marketed, and provides the best drama/theater of all the leagues IMHO, and it's not close really.

I mean, my La Liga is a two team race, with an occasional jaunt from Atletico thrown it. Boring. France is all PSG, with a little challenge from Monaco or Lyon. And sorry, but the Bundesliga is even worse than La Liga, with Bayern having absolutely no challenge recently. At least with the EPL, you have 3 teams all with a legit chance to win it, with Liverpool and Spurs not too far behind. And unlike most of the rest of Europe, the bottom teams are almost always down to put up a fight, so even those games hold some interest. There’s a reason why it’s the most popular league in the world by a large margin.

Stop watching MLS or LA Liga. :) Bundesliga is fun.

Hahaha, no way am I dropping Barca games. And the Bundesliga will be great...for highlights. If I was a bachelor, I'd probably be all over it. But my little ones and my wife still love me, and I kinda want to enjoy that before they realize I'm an a-hole lol.

Old news bro. That's why you have to listen to the podcasts I recommended! And yes, it's a damn shame, and no one who follows American soccer is happy about it. It'll be 90% Mexican, if not worse. I'd never take my kid to a US-Mexico game there - that's basically suicide if you wear a US jersey. Such a blatant money grab - so pathetic.

So when people say BPL is not the best league in the world, they mean that Bundesliga is? I guess they must. Last season I watched a fair amount of BPL, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A, and no question in my mind that BPL is the best of those, at least in terms of top-to-bottom quality. So if Bundesliga is better than that, that makes me really excited to watch more of it this season, now that it's on Fox.

EPL has been the best league in the world (from top down) for decades, I think Bundesliga has been nipping at the heels for a while and if it hasn't passed it in the last five years it's about to... La Liga is the best in the world for your top hand full of teams tho.

If you like the EPL because every team is generally good and competitive you will love the Bundesliga, i think it's a more American brand of soccer (attacking) and it mirrors the EPL in terms of depth... the only issue is Bayern have that top spot completely locked down currently... but the depth from there is filled with quality teams.

I think it is fair to say that top to bottom, the EPL is the best league in the world. the tenth place team in the EPL this past year, Crystal Palace, would beat the Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga, and Ligue 1 10th place team in Werder Bremen, Espanyol, Milan, and Guingamp.

But the La Liga top 5 right now is second to no league. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are obviously three quality sides, but you could include Sevilla and Valencia in there now. I would take Juventus over any EPL side. I would take Bayern over any EPL side. I would take PSG over any EPL side.

So if we are going top to bottom quality, it is:

EPL
La Liga/Bundesliga
Serie A
Ligue 1

If we are talking the league with the best teams near the top, it is:

La Liga
Bundesliga
Ligue 1
Serie A
EPL.

I hate to admit that being a Man City fan, but that is how it has been the past 2-3 years.

Good stuff...

one thing though, you honestly think Crystal Palace would beat Bremen or Milan as if there is nothing to it??? really????

Ah ok, I think we are on the same page. I agree, in 2014/15 teams like Barca, Real, Bayern, PSG, Juve were all better than any EPL team. But I think the EPL is the league with the deepest talent pool. And no wonder ... I think I read that all 20 EPL clubs were among the 40 richest in the world last year, just because of TV revenue.

That's all with the caveat of having watched no Bundesliga soccer at all last year (just didn't have access to it). Just watched Bayern in Champs League.

Crystal Palace was quality last year and Milan was absolute garbage. I admittedly only saw Bremen once or twice but looking at their team last year can't see CP losing.

I agree, Palace played some great football, especially after Pardew came on. I can't believe they haven't sold Yannick Bolasie yet. I thought for sure he'd move on to a bigger club.

We definitely need him to step up for city this year, it looks like we might have to outscore a lot of opponents to have a chance to win the league

Kevin De Bruyne looks to be headed our way by the end of the transfer window. That would make a really solid midfield and he is young so he will give City many years and only get better. Kompany needs to regain his form. Hopefully they can somehow sign Otamendi.

And somehow Pelligrini signed a contract extension today

Yeah I think we get de bruyne too I just wonder why it's taking so long to make a bid. And I think we should have prioritized center back this window but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. And I think the contract extension is more to remove the cloud of uncertainty and eliminating that distraction than anything else. If pep wants to come I have a hard time believing that they wouldn't sack pelligrini to make that happen

What kind of person cheers for City? To me... Any Irish fan ought to cheer for Pool. A giant in their own right who hasn't been truly great since the 80's... But no... You cheer for the Oregon of soccer. Congrats ;)

Lol funny enough to go off your Oregon analogy, I originally got into City (back before they had won anything in my lifetime, by the way) because I liked their jerseys. That sky blue is fresh. That, and it was 2008 or 2009 and they were playing either Hull City or Sunderland and I was amazed by Adebayor at the time. I remember they ended up losing the game but had like 75% possession and just attacked the whole game and that's how I decided to root for City.

Watching 'Spurs and Man United right now in the EPL opener.

No De Gea in the squad today is indicative he is leaving for Madrid.

Hoping the Spurs can pull it off.

I'm watching as well. Happy De Gea is likely gone. Am I totally insane to think Pool can finish higher than them?

Totty was dominating until that own goal. Completely changed the game. If De Gea leaves, don't think Man U will get top 4. Pool could slide in there. The combo of Firmino, Coutinho, and Sturridge is going to be deadly.

I liked them since I was 5 years old, solely because I absolutely loathed man united. Luckily for me, they don't suck anymore haha

You loathe United? Great. Come cheer for Pool. Great time to hop on the wagon :)

In other news: Chelsea is extremely lucky to be leading Swansea right now. Courtois has had to make several saves early on here.

Yup. And Chelsea's second goal was extremely lucky.

Look out for Swansea this year. Very dangerous and good side.

So it appears Arsenal will struggle with getting wins the first half of this season. Not looking good this morning.
