Well, I think this one is obvious

Headed out to watch Aston Villa vs. FC Dallas tonight. I'm pretty excited to see an EPL team live even though they aren't my club.

Anyone else able to go to one of the friendly matches European clubs are doing?

I am going to Liverpool vs AC Milan in Charlotte.

How do you MLS fans feel about these friendlies? I am torn on them. It gives MLS exposure, but I don't think it does much good for the image of the league as a whole. Most these teams are throwing out B teams, and granted, MLS isn't playing their best XI, but tonight, MCFC dismantled SKC, who is supposed to the best the MLS has.

I also think MLS is at the point they don't need to prove anything to anyone.

The San Jose Earthquakes actually won a game. They are up 5-1 on Chicago right now. Some great goals here. I feel bad for Johnson. The Fire defense is an absolute disaster.

The top of the respective tables are miles apart, but after watching FC Dallas and Aston Villa yesterday, I don't think that carries through the whole league necessarily so the games can be a good thing. Dallas actually controlled the ball and dominated most of the game, but they couldn't finish. I'd be encouraged if I were them and getting a slap of reality if I were Villa.

In unrelated news, I'm going to see Real Madrid vs. Roma next week which should be great.

Just got tix to see the Reds play Olympiakos at Soldier Field. Psyched for it.

I fell asleep watching last night's game against Roma though. Borrrring. Did it get better after the first 60 minutes or so? Coutinho looked like he was trying to prove something to the manager, and Totti had a chance or two, but other than that there was very little to get excited about for either team in the attacking third. And of course many of the headlining players were not on the pitch.

It was cool to see Ashley Cole with his new squad though. He looked pretty good pushing forward, too.

I can take or leave most of these U.S. friendlies, but I am excited about the Bayern/MLS All-Stars exhibition. Should be fun to watch.

I love them. Its good for the sport here overall I think. The own goal by Agger sucks but he is probably on his way out anyway. He did not help himself last night. Coutihno is gonna be a boss. I think both teams are good and that is why it was sort of slow. Their recent games back in Europe have been pretty high paced with a lot of young guys. This game, the top squads appear to be feeling their own team out more than trying to dismantle the opposing team.

Liverpool just offered to buy Shaqiri from Bayern for $24.12m.

He's a great talent, but has never really managed to break through in Munich. Would like to see him get a chance elsewhere.

The transfer fee might give die Roten enough scratch to pick up Marco Reus before the window closes.

You have to remember that he still only 22, playing winger behind Ribery and Robben. IMO, I would hold onto him for a few more years, especially since Ribery and Robben are each over 30.

I realize they were going to sell him from the outset, I just disagree with it.

They want Reus instead as Ribery's replacement. Can't say I blame them.

Shaqiri showed well in the Brazil, so his value is at an all-time high. He's not happy riding the bench, so better to strike now while the iron's hot.
