I love this England team. No real stars, but they are one of the few teams at this World Cup that actually looks organized and like they have a plan. I am definitely rooting for them.
Croatia is also really fun to watch though because that midfield is so, so good. I can't help but love Modric. He is so industrious and tidy, always pops up in the right place, always seems to make the right decision. Just a joy to watch.
Southgate has got to drop either Dele or Lingard today and put in a true CM to play alongside Hendo, or Croatia's outstanding midfield will completely overrun England in the middle of the park. I am a big Dele fan (except when he dives and when he loses his cool and commits dumb fouls) but he does not look healthy; he was pretty poor against Sweden. Lingard has played pretty well, so I would probably stick with him. Dier has looked horrible in the holding midfield role (although good at center back) so I would use either Delph or Loftus-Cheek today in place of Dele to shore up the midfield.
Sterling has been so good and the people who say he isn't producing and should be dropped are wrong, imo. His movement is so crucial to England's attack; the team look way better with him than without him, as you saw late in the Columbia game.
Danny Rose should really be starting at wingback. Having a right-footer at left wingback makes the attack too predictable and prevents early crosses into Kane. Plus, Croatia's right back Vrsaljko is injured, and they are likely to replace him with a center back (whose name escapes me at the moment), so I would be tempted to put in Rose to run circles around the big man.
Should be a great game today. I can't wait.
