ESPN rising star Adnan Virk has been fired by the network, sources told The Post.

Virk is accused of leaking confidential company information to the media on multiple occasions, according to sources.

When ESPN investigated the allegations, it felt that Virk failed to fully cooperate.

He recently signed a new multi-year contract.

“Adnan Virk no longer works at ESPN,” ESPN vice president Josh Krulewitz told The Post.

Virk could not immediately be reached for comment. CAA, Virk’s agency, declined comment.

On Friday, Virk was escorted off the Bristol campus. The specific nature of the information Virk chose to share is unknown at this time.

During his move up the ESPN ladder, Virk had become a lead studio host on its college football game coverage. He was a regular host on “Baseball Tonight” and college basketball. He was one of the main fill-in hosts on ESPN Radio. He had developed a podcast, called “Cinephile,” about movies.

Virk, 40, attended college in Toronto. He grew up in Canada after he emigrated from Pakistan. After a TV career in Canada, he joined ESPN, where his likable personality and smooth delivery quickly saw him rise up in the company.

Like all ESPN/Disney employees, Virk was required annually to take compliance training dealing with privacy and how to handle sensitive information.

Damn, got caught in a CIA-level mole hunt.

wouldn't turn over his personal cell phone to ESPN Security apparently, and this got him fired. And apparently the info he leaked was about Baseball Tonight, lol WGAF

What could he have leaked that was proprietary or somehow damaging?

He just signed a new contract extension last year, so the attorneys will have to hash out what of that he'll be paid. That's "the legal action" he's plotting. Not really all that unusual.

Molly Qerim is interviewing LaVar Ball when she asks him if she can switch gears with him. He responds by saying "You can switch gears with me anytime". Ball is taking some heat for his comment.

https://www.cnn.com/videos/business/2019/06/18/lavar-ball-remark-espn-host.cnn

Subtleness is not Ball's strong suit. I would assume that if he was in fact trying to hit on a girl, he would be much more blatant about it.

The guy is an idiot though and should know better. Not to mention a bad example to any young viewer watching the show that thinks that is fine to say. Hopefully ESPN takes a stand and doesn't give him more air time. He has to learn that he isn't above the rules that everyone else needs to follow. I'd be happy if I never had to listen to him again. Although his insights about Magic being a puppet turned out to be true, I still can't handle 95% of the crap he spews for the 1 nugget he actually brought to the table.

Sad thing is, I remember on the herd when he told the girl to stay in her lane, Cowherd said he wouldn't bring him back on the show... but he was just recently on. So I have low expectations of any real ramifications coming out over this.

Also a clown, can't stand his hot takes. (IMO, of course, to each their own).

They deserve each other.

I hate the hot take culture that has become the media in all forms. I like real reporting. That's why I really only listen when a Chris Broussard or someone comes on and talks, because he knows the players and the game and gives real data to back up his thoughts. Which unfortunately is a breath of fresh air today.

But Social media has increased the ease of arguments and lack of fact needing so hot takes are in and will be for the foreseeable future.

I like Cowherd, more than I like almost any other "hot-taker". His monologues are generally really good imo. He has some creative segments (his free agency dating game for example). I like how he uses metaphors for everything, even if they become redundant. I still appreciate the fact I can see his thought process (no matter how flawed or wrong). At least it shows he gave some thought or explains why he thinks the way he does.

To each his own, I don't tune in everyday, but I will look him up every now and then to see if there are any thoughts that I find interesting. I tend to agree with him more than any other personality right now in sports. Just not on some specific things.

Fun fact: saw him once in New York in a little bagel/breakfast joint. He was eating at a table alone and I went up to say hello when he got up to leave the store. Totally blew me off. Really hoped that someday I was going to make it big and be able to bring that up with him in jest one day. Obviously I don't hold it against the guy.

He Is a simplistic form of a reality he wishes he could be. Daddy day care has gone viral within the Ball family..
Without any aggression meant, I would tear this guy up with nothing but reality.

You're right. It's not worth a hint of our thought..... But, He has put him and his son out there for all the speculation that comes his way.
If his son Is that great then so be It.
Let his son be and give us the wisdom needed from then on out...

i would go as far as saying he acted feminine.

That was my take. I seriously don't get why Ball still gets interviewed other than heel hits. That said, the comment was hardly offensive. It's not like he said "You can change MY gears anytime." Doesn't change the fact he's an idiot and I wish they'd stop giving him air time.

Irregardless of any level of reaction that was just a stupid thing for Ball to say.

No doubt, but stupid on anyone who keeps interviewing this idiot.

I don't disagree that it was stupid to say. Ball has an over inflated idea of his self-worth and importance. It would have been better if she had completely ignored his comment and continued on, but she did a decent job of responding and that should have been the end of it. CNN coming out with a front page article is overreacting.

Bloke is right. It's like finding a snake and playing with it until it bites you and then crying foul! You know what you're getting before you even start.

From an article on si.com.

SI.com
ESPN will no longer feature LaVar Ball on any of its platforms after Ball's inappropriate comments to Molly Qerim on Monday, The Athletic's Richard Deitsch reported on Tuesday.

According to Deitsch, an ESPN spokesperson said they have "no plans moving forward" to use Ball as an on-air guest, an on-the-record source for digital or a background source for ESPN.

The news comes two days after Ball appeared on First Take to discuss the blockbuster Anthony Davis trade that sent his son, Lonzo Ball, from the Lakers to the Pelicans. Qerim asked Ball if she could "switch gears with you because I have a question here," to which Ball responded, "You can switch gears with me anytime."

A representative for Ball issued a statement to TMZ after his appearance and insisted that his comment was "at NO time intended or meant to be sexual in nature."

ESPN condemned Ball and called his comment "completely inappropriate," indicating it had told Ball as much.

Ball, 51, previously got in an on-air argument with Kristine Leahy, a former co-host on The Herd, in 2017.

Well, something good came out of this! May Lavar Ball fade into obscurity now.
Here's hoping Stephan A Smith says something next.

I haven't seen video or heard audio... does he say it so to clearly imply an innuendo or does he just say it cold? Serious question.

It wasn't said with a lot of emphasis like a pick up line at a bar, but it was leaning toward that direction.
