See also the "Bear" from GameDay (I forget his name) saying that Virginia is a good bet against Notre Dame to win outright. It's a good bet because it's paying 4 to 1, not because Virginia is more likely to win.

Yeah i recall him mentioning how awful we are AGS on the road and they are pretty good AGS at home.

Also, the line is inflated by all accounts. Per experts the line should be around 8-9 not 12-13 so it's clearly a good value bet.

Eh, fuck ESPN. I haven't watched them, other than games, in two years. I don't have cable so if a game is on ESPN that I want to watch I find a bar. My life enjoyment has gone up exponentially without ESPN.

I can go you one better. Except for games or to catch a score, I haven't watched ESPN for 4-5 years now.

I only watch ESPN when there is a game I want to see, or sometimes in the morning as I am getting ready for work. Unless Hannah Storm is on, and then I just turn the TV off. I refuse to watch anything with HS on it.

Hannah Storm, alumna of the University of Notre Dame?

College Game Day is still solid. It's by far the most informative CFB program on TV. I get all the ESPN hate, but I still enjoy ESPN from time to time. I start everyday with Mike and Mike unless Chris Carter is on that dude is the worst.

Once I learned how low their employment standards are, I tuned out......

I told you, I snuck in. Got hired by Disney Parks and transferred without anyone noticing. I still don't think they know I'm here.

Wizards is like Koy Detmer. I think the Eagles forgot they even had him on the roster for a few years.... In fact he's probably still there in the locker room somewhere.....

As far as SEC guys go, I really like McCelroy and Finebaum this year, even if I don't agree with what they say at times. I personally don't judge an analyst on how much I agree with them, I try to judge them on charisma/delivery, insightfulness, and intellectual honesty. I think ESPN has far too many guys that are lacking in the third category, but some other guys I really like are Rece Davis, SVP, Ryan Russilo, Pollack, and Herbie. Davis you would never even know went to Alabama unless you looked it up.

I like SVP, but I can't give you him. He has SEC goggles too. I had a twitter exchange a few years ago with him over ND/Texas AM's ranking. I can't remember the exact situation right now, but he defended AM's ranking being significantly higher than ND's while they both had the same amount of losses and ND had actually beaten teams, whereas AM had beaten virtually no one. Said his eyes told him AM was better, AKA, everyone around me is talking SEC, so I'll believe it.

Also be careful with Rece Davis. To me, he's an intelligent brick (Anchorman). He is fine now, but can't resits joining the club once the SEC bandwagon starts up.

I disagree. Like Lax stated, you wouldn't know he is a Bama grad and he is one of the few on ESPN that can stay fairly neutral. The F-baum takes some heat for going over the top at times but he is highly critical of SEC teams when it is called for. Greg Mc is the best all around on the SEC network and does a great job of analyzing teams and their strengths/weaknesses from a player first standpoint.

We'll see about Rece. I could be wrong, just think he's the type to 'join the club' a little bit. When he's neutral, he's a great host.

I actually like Finebaum. I like his matter of fact approach, and agree he's critical when it calls for it. He's not flashy and speaks his mind.

But "the club," as in the cool kids on the A-team, are Herbie and Fowler, and they're both great.

Pollack. Pollock is a fish. ;-)

Also, Palmer?

Jesse Palmer is GREAT. People don't like him because he is a pretty boy and was on bachelor, IMO. His analysis is excellent, I couldn't give two ***** what he did outside of broadcasting.

Some people don't like Palmer because he saved Fowler's life.

Agreed on Palmer and Herbie

Not a fan at all of Pollock

Yea, both these guys are trying to be as partial as they can. I respect that, it's good journalism. Pollock changes opinion as often as he changes underwear.

I'm a Herbie fan. He's by far the best in CFB. But I will say, during last week's OSU broadcast a few times he was letting his OSU colors show.

Herbie isn't critical enough for me. It's like watching Bill Walsh do analysis on NFL games back in the day. I like Herbie and he takes the high road more often than not, but with his knowledge of the game, one would think he would at least call players out when it's called for. Not saying he doesn't, he just seems really nice when he does... almost to the point that he is apologetic.

wasn't it rece davis who went on that 'sec bias is bullshit" rant live on gameday a while back?

I'm okay with Rece Davis. He was good pals with Lou it seemed, spoke highly of him behind the scenes. Rece is pretty unbiased as far as ESPN goes, and I'm glad he got the call up to the Gameday desk with Fowler moving into his new position. I will say that Gameday Final kind of sucked last weekend...even with Mark May out of the picture.
