Thunderstruck makes me want to run through a effing wall. This needs to be on the video board in 2017.

This was put together nicely. A little to mix in the Kool Aid.

Thunderstruck might be a little to old school for the younger crowds and recruits at the games

I don't think it's too old school necessarily, I think 10 year old kids have probably heard that song. I just think it's so overused that the younger crowd hates it. I liken it to "Welcome to the Jungle." It comes on and I think "please not this song again" (and I'm really not the "younger crowd"). If I could put together a list of songs I could never hear again and be totally fine with it, Thunderstruck would be on there.

Thunderstruck (or any AC/DC period)
Welcome to the Jungle
I Love Rock and Roll
Living on a Prayer
Don't Stop Believing
Crazy Train

I could probably put 20 or so songs on there that are just so overplayed I hate them.

Man, I can't agree more with Crazy train. I hear that laugh and i'm pretty sure my ears start bleeding.

there arent a ton of pump up and stadium friendly (family friendly?) songs that exist imo. which is why you hear the same ones in every stadium year after year.

acdc is the shit so i can always listen to thunderstruck. However, my college mascot was the thunder and it was our intro song. It did taint it for me because i liked the song so much before that. Hearing it week after week at every sporting event was too much. Thankfully, I am some years removed from that now and can listen to my song without that disdain.

There are plenty of songs that you could take bits and pieces from, even if the song itself would otherwise be inappropriate. "Lose Yourself" comes to mind. Start with the piano introduction, then into the heavy guitar beat. Mix the chorus in with some stuff on the video board. End with an a cappella "and the beat goes on da-da-dum da-dum da-da."

Rap pump up songs can't compare to the best rock ones. This is coming from a huge rap fan.

and Rap songs aren't going to be received well by the blue hairs and middle-aged alumni.

You know... the one's that can actually afford ticket prices nowadays...

They'd never know if it was just the instrumentals and talking. "If you had... just one shot... would you capture it... or let it slip away?"

Also, how awesome would it be to see Malik or KVR say "success is my only motherfuckin' option, failure's not" in an interview?

That would be pretty much the opposite of "awesome". I want our players to be professional enough to not scream obscenities in an interview. That's pretty low brow and something you would expect from some former JUCO player in the SEC do. Not a Notre Dame man.

I agree with the point made about songs being played out but when I'm drunk (and half the people there will be), my opinion changes and I love them.

My ideal song to play while the special teamers run onto the field would be the instrumental beginning of Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria.

I'm not sure he wasn't being sarcastic. His post is an Eminem song

I'd rather hear the guitar riff from Edge of Seventeen or something like that instead of Eminem quotes.

I wouldn't say that middle-aged alumni don't get up. Sure... some of the blue hairs won't stand. But they are the ones filling the stadium either way. I hate people not standing, but that doesn't mean their opinion and gameday experience shouldn't be factored into the equation. They are the ones that fork up the cash for the tickets. If we pandered to the current student body completely for stadium atmosphere, then that would be pretty unfair to the majority of the stadium. Whom also happen to be the people paying top dollar for their experience.

Just don't have less than six songs on the sound board. Nice mix of old an new and 20 second intros versus 2 minute clips during TV timeouts and whatnot. And don't cock block the band too much either.

Downside to evening game is waiting that much longer for kick off - Seeing 24 frosh/red shirts on the Texas two deep reminds me of the type of two deeps we had during painful seasons.

And when is the last time we entered the season with three top level first round draft prospects (Stanley, Russell and Jaylon)? This team should be special - Look out Longhorns!
