Why the hell does BC have to ruin ND's perfect seasons? They usually do it on the football field, but this year it's by trying to steal our DC of the year! Screw BC!

i understand iowa is his alma mater but methinks he is more a northeast guy than an iowa guy and that has more pull than spending rest of his life in iowa.
what id like really to know is his wife from iowa (or the northeast)?
the wives always have a big say in these things. if she was a jersey/northeast gal my sense is she wants out of midwest. pure speculation but just a thought.
born and raised in north jersey my hunch his overall comfort level/family satisfaction will/would be higher at BC than iowa

Iowa is his alma mater so not like its new to him. Not to mention his coaching experience has mostly been in the midwest: Western Illinois, Eastern and Central Michigan, Virginia, Cincinnati, and now Notre Dame. Iowa has a better chance at succeeding then BC does IMO.

LOL, I didn't say I was ruffled just wondering if anyone had heard anything credible? One thing I have learned is that my buddy is a hater of ND and he wants **** in my proverbial bowl of cheerios, as often as possible. Personally I have a gut feeling Diaco stays for at least one more season.

Iowa has a HUGE buyout anchor around their neck if they dump Ferentz, like twice as bad as Weis. Someone was saying in the $20mill range. Don't count on that happening anytime soon.

I was just playing. But, I wish I shared your thought about him staying....I have a bad feeling about this.

Ferentz's contract is for $3.875 m/ year through 2019. If Iowa wants to buy him out, they'll have to pay him 75% of that, which is roughly $17.5m. So unless the Hawkeyes get really desperate, that job isn't coming open for a while.

As much as I love Bobby D, Pete Lembo would be a better hire.

While that is true, lets remember two very big things here.

1. Usually that payout is structured over the life of the original contract. Don't know the terms here, but it usually is also reduced by any amount of earnings said coach makes elsewhere.

2. In the quest for more revenue, the BTN just exanded into NYC and Wash DC. As Wetzel called it, the Big 10 Tax is sure to raise money for all members.

That number can be managed if Iowa wants to.

Diaco wait another year or two, the Texas job will be vacant soon enough! lol

With the players that state puts out, if he has any idea the Texas job might come open in the next couple years, he'd stay put till then. So many Texas kids dream of playing for the Longhorns, he would have a Top 10 recruiting team just waiting for him yearly. Texas has deep pockets to pay him well, and a defensive minded coach like Diaco would do well there IMO. They would be a holy terror with Diaco at the helm.

True. Maryland, which is seriously hurting for cash, is likely going to pay much more than Ferentz's buyout to escape the ACC. But they're doing that to buy in to the B1G revenue stream.

Iowa's already in, and it cashes the checks regardless of who is coaching their program. So while they can technically afford it, $17.5m is still a big chunk of change; unless something drastic happens, Ferentz is likely to remain the HC at Iowa for a least a few more years.

I think BC is a lateral move and with another year like this one he could get a sweet deal at a big time program! How much does this hurt recruiting this year if he leaves?

My grade school geography is a little rusty, but I'm pretty sure Italy is in Europe.

Ha, true, I just didn't think "Diaco" was an Italian name, nor did I think it sounded as European as the previous 3 coaches.

That might be the single worst coaching contract in sports.

Agree....which is why I think Iowa in a year or two is a viable option for Diaco if he chooses to wait. Waiting is made easier by ND paying him too.

If I'm the BC AD, I'm taking Pete Lembo. He is a young guy with a ton of head coaching experience.

I'm looking at Diaco and with rumors that he's waiting for the Iowa job, you may be in the search for a HC again sooner then later. I want stability for my program and someone with head coaching experience. Kromer has limited HC experience (if you want to call it that) in the NFL but does have the accolades as a really good OL coach. NFL OL coach to college HC is a bit of a jump. At least with Lembo, he knows what a HC job entails as he's been doing it for years.

I take my gamble with Lembo.

I hope this is the case. Not to knock Diaco, but I think HC experience would tip the scales to Lembo. Also, you make a solid point about BC having to worry about Diaco eyeing the exit if the Iowa job comes open. Of course, I have my selfish reasons for believing this stuff.

P.S. I'm watching CFB Daily on ESPNU and they are talking about various possible coaching changes in the works. NO mention of Diaco. I'm taking that as a good sign; no news is good news.

He meant real Europe........

1. Not really a huge fan of racist humor. So there's that.

2. The guy they just fired was named Spaziani, so your joke isn't just dumb because its mildly offensive, its also dumb because it doesn't even make sense.

1. I was poking fun at ulkl for not realizing his error... Race had nothing to do with it.

2. You of all people have little right complaining about others being offensive

3. Screw off
