The list is predominately Blue States. Preparing for a Trump re-election?

New Jersey will allow terminally ill patients to end their lives starting today
By Taylor Romine, CNN

Updated 5:09 AM ET, Thu August 1, 2019

(CNN)Terminally ill adults in New Jersey will now be able to ask for medical help to end their lives.

In April, Gov. Phil Murphy signed the Medical Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act. It goes into effect Thursday.
It allows adults with a prognosis of six months or less to live to get a prescription for life-ending medication.
Other jurisdictions that allow physician-assisted suicide are: California, Colorado, Oregon, Vermont, Washington, Hawaii, Montana and the District of Columbia.
The law requires either a psychiatrist or psychologist determine that the patient has the mental capacity to make the decision. The prescription is a series of self-administered pills that can be taken at home.
"Allowing residents with terminal illnesses to make end-of-life choices for themselves is the right thing to do," Murphy said in a statement.
The bill narrowly passed in the Senate, and some who voted against it are apprehensive about its effects.
"The bill has lasting ramifications and lots of loopholes," said Republican Sen. Robert Singer. "We are so concerned about opioids, and not trusting doctors with opioids. But now we are willing to trust them with this."
New Jersey legislators have tried passing versions of this bill since 2014, but this was the first time the bill went to a vote in the Senate.
At least 19 other states are considering physician-assisted suicide bills.

I tend to be in favor of such laws. I've seen too many patients who were terminally ill forced to suffer physically and emotionally for way too long when there was little to no quality of life left and they didn't want to drag it out. It's a poor use of our medical resources and the patient's family's financial resources, not to mention the cruelty to the terminally ill patient.

I'm aware that this is a position strongly opposed by most religions. My view is one that's more practical and respectful of the patient's wishes. If a patient is terminally ill and of sound enough mind to make that decision, I think it's much more merciful and respectful towards them to let them end their life with dignity and without the needless suffering for them and their loved ones.

Agreed. It is simply cruel to prolong suffering.

They've also been treated to an ongoing series of bad public examples. "Prominent Americans in the media" is a real sh!t show. I can't imagine how ANY "cultured" imagery will exist.

It's not just the prominent Americans in the media. It's also the media itself. It's also the "cultured" intellectuals in our education systems.

My best friend's son just started college. He's a scholarship kid for music at a bougie private school. He's only been on campus a quick minute and has already been bombarded by recruitment from all kinds of lib "clubs" and orgs. The kid doesn't drink or smoke, and could give two shits about politics. He just wants to compose. Hope he keeps his head on straight and out of the political "experience".

30-year Environmental Studies prof and at least somewhat cultured intellectual here. Taught my students all about care for the Earth. Only "politics" I ever did was to name politicians/lawmakers who were involved crucially with legislation and/or crimes or favoritism against the environment, plus I did public service on the K-County solid waste committee. All of that is apparently "liberal" to some. Blows my mind how non-discriminating things have gotten.

... and on WMUs campus NO professors went out recruiting students into "liberal groups." This was almost official school policy, but almost no profs wanted to do any such thing anyway. Student groups were just that: student groups. If they had an advisor, THEY went out and picked one. He didn't have to agree to do it, and almost never had a real role. For sure as he!l our Dalton School of Music (a good one) didn't politicize.

I'll contribute a new IE phrase: Green Man Bad. Teacher Man Bad.

Always thought I'd retire in FL or Belize, but Colorado is starting to climb the ranks. Weed and now boobies. Gotta love the "free the nipple" campaign.

Pretty sad that libs can pretty much do anything but a few cheer leaders posing by very vanilla pro-GOP banner translates to a canceled football game....

School cancels football game days after cheerleaders are punished for pro-Trump banner
The decision comes after cheerleaders at North Stanly, in New London, N.C., posed for a photo of holding a banner that read “Trump 2020 Make America Great Again" before an Aug. 30 game.

Over 9 million people hurrying to follow her on Instagram. What a sad commentary on our society.

Jennifer Aniston broke Instagram with her debut

Jennifer Aniston's debut on Instagram started with a bang -- by crashing the app.

There were so many people excited to finally follow her that it caused issues for the platform. "We are aware that some people were having issues following Jen's profile," a spokesperson for Facebook, which owns Instagram, said in a statement to CNN. "We are thrilled to have this 'Friend' as part of the Instagram community."

The actress joined the social media platform on Tuesday, posting a photo with her former 'Friends' co-stars Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc.

That one photo temporarily caused her profile to crash and some fans were unable to follow her for a time. However, it didn't stop her follower count from skyrocketing. As of Wednesday, Aniston had 9.9 million followers.

Aniston took to her new Instagram page to acknowledge the glitches with a funny video. "I swear I didn't mean to break it..." she wrote. "Thanks for the kind, glitchy welcome everyone."

Luckily, the issue was resolved quickly and everyone will now be able to keep up with the actress.
"As of now, people should be able to access and follow her profile with no problems," a Facebook company spokesperson said.

She is pretty hot though... I'd say based on just that, she deserves more followers than the majority of "influencers" and permanently outraged political voices...

In other words, this is "more normal" to me than most of the social media crap out there.

I'm not blind. lol

Just wonder why the rush to follow an actress like your world and existence depends on knowing what she or anyone for that matter is doing. Now if she's posting nudies!

I don't even have an Instagram account. I don't have FB. I do have a Twitter account that I rarely use. Only signed up so I could follow recruiting. If she was putting nudies out, I'd sign up though lol.

And please Dear Emma, tell us what does this accomplish?

The pressures of turning 30? lol

Emma Watson says she's 'self-partnered' not single

(CNN)Emma Watson has said she prefers to call herself "self-partnered" rather than single as she approaches her 30th birthday.

Watson, 29, who rose to fame as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, coined the phrase in an interview with British Vogue in which she discussed the pressures of turning 30. The actor and activist, whose birthday is in April, said she initially did not understand the "fuss" that surrounded the milestone.

More recently, however, she admitted feeling "stressed and anxious" about her upcoming birthday.
She told British Vogue: "If you have not built a home, if you do not have a husband, if you do not have a baby, and you are turning 30, and you're not in some incredibly secure, stable place in your career, or you're still figuring things out... There's just this incredible amount of anxiety."
Speaking of how she had never believed the "'I'm happy single' spiel," she added: "It took me a long time, but I'm very happy [being single]. I call it being self-partnered."
The new phrase is reminiscent of actor Gwyneth Paltrow's use of the term "conscious uncoupling" to describe her divorce proceedings from the Coldplay singer Chris Martin in 2014.

Later this year, Watson will return to the screen playing Margaret "Meg" March in "Little Women" alongside Laura Dern and Meryl Streep -- both of whom she knew previously through their activism.
The full interview will appear in the December issue of British Vogue and will be available from November 8.
