I live in NM. Restrictions are wierd here.

No indoor dining but you can go to the gym.

Judge put out a temp restraining order for restaraunts to open for 10 days only to be reversed by the NM supreme court a few hours later.

Fall Sports have been moved to February

Online school for fall.

tldr: IMHO: For Covid, it´s not about the money, it´s about quality control and trust. Gilead is an example; vaccines will be the same.
And there is information sharing - US NIH, domestically and internationally, for example

Money, or not
Gilead has made the Remdesivir process available non-exclusively and royalty-free to several labs for production and distribution to 127 low-income countries, including access to further enhancements and certified ingredients.
Gilead does not make a penny from that.
(Labs and distribution in higher-income countries will pay royalties to Gilead, though low-end - the initial development is really expensive).

Quality control
By controlling which labs can produce, Giliead assures quality control over Remdesivir. Since it is a delicate IV product that requires delicate pure ingredients, it needs sophisticated and pristine production facilities.
Hackers and thieves are not likely to have such a careful production and sourcing approach, nor have access to process improvements.

Theft vs cooperation
A company can open up information to those it trusts, and there are many such agreements, despite a highly competitive environment.
But there are companies and countries you simply cannot trust. For example:
- China steals Intellectual property and then uses it however they want, including debilitating the US company that developed it.. They do so through State hacking efforts and by turning a blind enforcement eye to deliberate private-sector theft via violations of licensing agreements.
- Russia is not a government, it is a mafia. They will steal the info (via State or private), use it for financial gain and to damage to the US creator - and who knows what will come out of their process and production.

Gilead is making billions selling remdesivir to developed nations so they can take a hit elsewhere. Not bad for a shelved drug that never completed one trial successfully or was pulled due to trial patients health concerns.

Because I'm not sold as to the facts that surround the vaccine. Normal vaccines take years to develop, and all of a sudden they are creating one within 9-10 months that will stop this thing?
It makes no sense for me or my family to take a vaccine that can't possibly be tested through a placebo, or blind testing before It Is rolled out.
It's an RNA vaccine which has never been done before in the history of humankind, It completly bipasses animal studies which also has never been done before. There Is a lot of false information already being told online about the RNA.
The one thing that i thought was interesting was the only vaccine that HIV has Is supposedly an RNA vaccine. Why hasn't that been used yet?
We will wait. I will not ask my loved ones to just trust the government.

I don't believe that Circa is saying that these companies are conspiring or that the government is conspiring. He's saying he's skeptical of how quickly this vaccine is being developed and not following the standard testing process. I find it perfectly reasonable to be a bit skeptical and choosing to not be an early adopter.

I don't know if Circa is saying he won't ever take the vaccine or if he just wants to wait and let the dust settle from the early adopters.

Vaccine related but not to this. Let's assume the vaccine is as effective as regular vaccines. Since COVID-19 is a coronavirus will the vaccine also provide us some immunity against some coronavirus colds? I believe I read that for the common cold, the two most common viruses are coronaviruses and rhinoviruses.

LOL. I did not ever say I was a user of that therapy or really understood the process behind it.
What I have said Is I believe in alternative advanced medicine. The therapy you refer to isn't new. It's been around for a long time but has no real use for the FDA and pharmaceutical companies to make trillions of dollars off of.

It's not that hard to follow the money.
For Ex. If we could all be cured by dandelion tea than they would tell us to make sure we donate to monsanto and kill all dandelions with the poison and genetic coding we all know exists.

I read something last night that the clinical trials of the vaccines haven't gone incredibly smooth. As part of the process you're asked to take Tylenol every 6 hours for 24 hours, and even those that have taken the Acetaminophen have gotten severe side effects. Something like 1/3 of the vaccines make people run fevers, give chills, headaches, severe muscle pain, etc. In these cases it was enough for people to pause their everyday lives and take time off. I didn't read that the vaccines have killed anyone, and obviously the side effects listed are better than the alternative of possibly contracting Covid-19 full blown, but that said...I may wait and see how things go personally. I'm not high risk, so I don't plan on being first in line. I'll get it eventually once enough people give it a solid thumbs up.

From what I originally read, people were contracting mild symptoms at max. And what most people who had side effects had minor aching similar to what some people experience when they get a flu shot.


Then again, I have only kept up with the Moderna vaccine and not the one being created by the companies mentioned in the tweet.

To your point I heard an interview on The Daily (NYT podcast) where they do expect a large portion of US citizens will be wary of a COVID vaccine. It was not the “anti-Vaxxers” but the concern of an accelerated clinical trial that mostly concerned folks. Then there’s the political angle as folks who tie the tie the vaccine to Trump since he appoints the FDA commissioner, etc.

It is reasonable to want to do one’s due diligence before blindly taking a vaccine that just blew away the previous approval track for vaccines in record time. Some think it could be ready for dispensing by Jan 2021. That’s assuming Phase 3 is successful. Many a drug or vaccine never make it to approval despite moving on to phase 3. Nothing is guaranteed but there is reason for hope.
