Does anybody know somebody who has the virus? Or self-quarantining because they think they've got it?

Just friends of friends of friends who are quarantined. That's why this is all so bizarre. Don't know of anyone diagnosed other than the celebrities we've heard about.

when you have been in the grocery store - who have you seen buying all the TP?

Honestly? A mixture. I went in on Friday to buy a six pack and saw several old ladies/men and went on Sunday to grocery shop and saw a few young families with rolls in their carts. But more importantly it doesn't matter, because there's a phrase for judging the emergency preparedness/hysterical nature of a population of millions based on who you've seen in your local grocery store buying toilet paper: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anecdotal_evidence. Mix that with a confirmation bias that most of you have because this board can't stop talking about generational differences and you have a misinformation cocktail.

this entire virus situation is based on anecdotal evidence.

Where did I defend the "virus situation" and what does that have to do with my message? That's a koon argument bro. Distract and deflect.

You don't even know how to Koon well. I would have never even pointed out the lack of data, just moved on.

Sad!

A friend in NY is in quarantine because one of the people in their firm tested positive.

Fortunately for him he has a guest house so it’s no great hardship.

EDIT: Aw crap, wong quote. Stupid phone [user].

certainly wasnt my intention. but if you're just wanting to argue with me about generational differences thats fine. we can do so.

They exist, so to think they wont be pointed out by differing generations is senseless.

Generations complaining about the others has been going on far longer than you or I have even been alive. I doubt its stopping any time soon.

Perhaps the reason you are seeing it more pronounced on this forum currently is due to the virus. It genuinely has everyone confused, worried, scared, etc. I think anytime you have that level of anxiety and apprehension you are only going to see it turn from "pointing out" to "blame"

People always want to place the fault of something somewhere or on someone. When you cant pick an individual person/thing, whats left is broader thoughts. People and Things.

To say you shouldnt make decision off anecdotal evidence - sure, but everyone does it every day. You believe what you see. If I go to a grocery store and the entire row of TP is empty, then i look at the line and the only people I see with TP in their carts are late 40s/50s looking. Why would I not think, man look at this group of people buying all the TP. THen i have group chats with my friends and ask if any of them are being crazy and buying hoards of TP, and they all say no. Well then to me that rules out another group of people.

but i disagree that the virus situation has nothing to do with your point. this generational blaming is directly related to the virus situation

Nobody b/c they are out. Wife had our seven year old climb top shelf to scrounge the last four back of 1 ply a few days ago. That was after striking out at four previous stores.

Thoughts and prayers to your butthole.

Says I have to spread reps - thank you.

Thankfully our beach house has a full stock and we are bugging out as of Wednesday. Faster internet than home or work for secondary survival necessity. Low fiber diet in the meantime in conjunction with coordinated shit/shower regimen.

You're 100% correct. This isn't Boomers or Millenials buying all the paper products and groceries. It's basically anyone above high school age. When we stopped, there was a lady that appeared to be in her late thirties or early forties. She had her teenage son and daughter with her. Each had a cart full of groceries and she was given them instructions on what to go find next. Those are the people that are creating shortages, even if they are temporary.

Where did I defend the "virus situation" and what does that have to do with my message? That's a koon argument bro. Distract and deflect.

Koon be like, "WTF? Here I am minding my own business and...."

Just got an email from Great Clips. They may want to find a new head of marketing.

Great Clips becomes the “Official Hair Salon of the NCAA”

We’re incredibly excited to announce that Great Clips is an official partner of the NCAA's March Madness®.

So glad I pulled everything out of the market after a few days of this shit. Still lost a lot. Need to begin thinking about phasing back in.

The public response is absolutely hilarious. Shit paper? Went to the grocery store last night (1st time in a few weeks) - nutz!

Listening to all these Governors shut everything down and fall in love with their own voices-smh.

Now the discussion ref bailout of Airlines begins.

News reporting puts all in a panic.

Reminds me why I hate people. For the most part, they are idiots.

The silver lining for all thus is GRRM getting stuck at home so he can get some damn writing done.

1F47zAv.gif

He'll never finish the books.

You do realize you just jinxed GRRM....he’s gonna get the virus’s for sure now. Damn it!

There's a great joke in there somewhere about Martin's aversion to moral clarity and dying from "Greyscale".
