I've made a terrible mistake. When I first tried this gun, the rental only had one magazine and the spring was so stiff it was damn near impossible to load. Going through a box of ammo was a very slow process. Well now that I have multiple magazines of my own with proper tension in the springs, eating through multiple boxes was far too fun, fast, and efficient.

I'm going to need to buy something in 9mm immediately because 45 ACP is going to put me in the poor house.

Can't argue with that. I did say that the 1911 is aesthetically superior.

But guns are tools, so aesthetics only get you so far. Especially if you're paying ~65% more for ammo and limiting your practice as a result.

Pretty sure I told you so as well lol.... get a glock 9. cheap to shoot, upgrade, and maintain.

PS... should have went stainless. you'll spend more on the ammo in a short period of time than the 150 bucks not spent on stainless.

Should make a thread where Koon and Wiz give each other advise
Except I'm not a Poor so I can afford to ignore you guys and then I end up with two guns. Bonus!

I actually changed my mind on that anyways. The parkerized finish is more GI.

...

No, not a poor. Just a wastrel whining about becoming poor. Can afford two guns but can only afford to fire one. Shrewd deal.

Okay, now quit horsing around and go get an AR-15 or AR-10 from some guy in a state that doesn't put stupid restrictions on them.

After that, start acquiring ammo, non-perishables, and some MRE's to keep your family safe. Ham radio wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Found the Poors.

$ doesn't equal good taste....

If so, I've got over 3G in the center and runway rugs in my living room. Full disclosure, the GF helped pick it out, but it was in my top 3. IMO, she liked it best because it was more expensive.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on a handgun for the home. Monday of last week at 10:30 in the morning (while the wife was home) one or two guys (cameras caught a glimpse of one) came on the property and stole our hose & reel cart. They had to come on the property from the neighbors yard as the front camera never showed them and our driveway alarm never went off. The hose and cart were attached to the spigot right outside our bedroom window which was open. To boot, the cart cost $150 and the hose was 125ft real rubber hose which are hard to find this days meaning I'll have to spend over $200 to get something similar.

We live in a nice area in the burbs, so this may have been an isolated incident, but don't want to take any chances since the wife is home all the time. I finally convinced the wife to let the dogs run out front once a day just so those passing by knows she is home and we have dogs big enough to hurt you.

Thinking 9MM. Don't need anything real expensive, but should be something the wife can handle as well. I don't need an M16, AR-10, AR-15, bazooka, etc.

Use the advice above that Wiz solicited but actually follow it. Unless you care more about the looks and you'd prefer to fire money at targets, then follow Wiz.

Then when you're tired of following Wiz, follow the aforementioned advice.

So does that mean you're one of teh poorz? Because if you do anything differently than wiz, it = poorz. I'm pretty sure anytime you don't agree with him, it has to do with poorz or haz been poorz, or grew up poorz or just am poorz.

Lots of poorz things in wiz speak.

Take the wife to a range, and rent a couple different models. I did that for my mother and it worked out well.

Regardless of size, definitely recommend a Glock 9mm. One of the most reliable, if not most reliable gun out there. Easy to customize and cheap to shoot.

If you still haven't bought one by Christmas time, and want to hit the range, I'll be back for a few weeks to paint the interior of mom's house and can let you play with her toys. My cousin (who was both sheriff and marshal) has a nice collection we could take as well.
