So I am in the market for a handgun for home defense. I have been recommended Glocks but I dont like the feel. I also want a heftier handgun. Can you afficianados recommend a couple pieces?

Just picked up my first gun. Bought a CZ P10-C. Based on reviews and tons of research it is better built than the glock and cheaper. Haven't been able to take it out shooting yet tho.
Were you thinking semi-auto or revolver? Is your wife going to use it too?
That is a sexy gun. CZs are just built for cool mods.

Sig Sauer and HK VP9 are my favs, if you don't like Glocks.
Just curious, what about the feel of Glocks don't you like?
What ever you buy, pick and rent a couple at the range, and fire before you buy.
Friendly note. 9MM are the cheapest to shoot/maintain. A 9MM HP is plenty of stopping power for HD. Glocks IMO are the cheapest to customize.

Sigs are on my short list. They seemed different in my hand compared to a glock. The glock just didnt fit right in my hand. I am no expert and I know very little about what it should feel like. I have been to the range and do rent a few. Just haven't found the right one. I guess I'm treating them like I would treat a woman. hah.
From the ones I have tested the Springfield 1911 .45 felt the best (weight and grip wise).
HK P30 & HK VP9 > SIgs >>>> Glocks, IMHO.
Now if you get the SAS version and in 357 SIG... that's great.
9mm is typically cheap and available. During these crazy times, off rounds are easier to find. For example, my 458 Ham'r hobby is completely uninterrupted.
No revolver. Handgun. My wife and son would have access to it ultimately. My wife could handle anything I could. Lol

Thinking about heading up to the sporting goods store and snagging an AR before prices go up. They got a S&W for 600 I think and a Ruger for 650.
Any gun nerds here have an opinion?
They also got a bushmaster with a red dot for like $500, I guess my worry is that it might be a bad gun if it is that cheap with optics already on it?
S&W sport is a damn good AR for the money. Finding ammo is the issue down in FL. Hard to find 556 or 9mm

Which Ruger?
It just called it a Ruger AR556 or something like that i believe

This was truly the perfect storm:
An election year, (when theres always a panic anyways) paired with Covid shutting down production, and civil unrest, put demand at an all time high.
I had some extra cash, and stacked really deep in 223, 556, and 9mm around December. Caught a huge break in that regard, and am grateful.
Last time I looked, 556 was creeping up to around 80 cpr. Insanity. It will be over a dollar a pop after Christmas.
*ND, the S&W Sport is the defacto starter AR for lots and lots of people. It will give the casual shooter all they need, and is a decent rifle.

Thanks Boss!
Id recommend getting at least 10 PMags too. Those will be the next to go, and are still like $9 each right now.

I'm a Ruger guy. I think I own 6 now. I carry a SR9 and have a p-94 for home defense. Love both those guns. Dependable, durable and heavy enough to limit blowback.
I also have a Taurus judge .45. The home defense rounds for that cannon will stop just about anything that moves.
Try buying 45-70. This is me at the range:
