I just SBR'd my home piece- LMT Defender 2000 pistol in 300 AAC with a sopmod stock, LMT vertical grip, EOTECH, Cloud Defensive REIN light, YHM Phantom Suppressor, and law tactical folder.

When my BRN-180S comes in, it's going to be my new bag gun.

Ive been looking at those brownells BRN uppers and its tempting.

Regarding home defense are hollow points the best option? I worry about having to shoot it with occupied rooms in the event I have to use it.

Yeah, but at the end of the day, it won't matter much. Hit em with a bullet.

I just dont want the pass through to hit my family members in the house haha.

This. IMO, FMJs are discouraged, and hollow points are encouraged.

You are always going to be at a disadvantage against bad guys though, because ALL loads can have some sort of peripheral damage.

Generally, hollow points are stopping in a bad guy if placed correctly, but not always. No matter the load, you definitely need to be cautious about what lies behind the target. Bad guys shoot indiscriminately, good guys always have to take extra steps.

Just got an ATN X-sight 4K pro digital night vision scope. This thing is so awesome!
One shot zero was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend.

This thread shows me you aren't a total commie ;)

Fun fact: I can count on both hands how many times I've went out shooting. I'm very good with shotguns and clay pigeons. Better than most of my buddies who are the definition of hicks. Pisses my old man off that I'm good at it since he never taught me so he can't take credit.

Would like to get there with rifles as well. Oddly enough, my old man is a reformed hick. Grew up on a farm/dairy farm. Doesn't want any part of the lifestyle now other than helping my uncle harvest once in a blue moon. Think he might have PTSD.

I've said this before, in private, mostly to dudes like Lax: I'm more centrist than liberal. I love me some guns, that's for sure. Wait until you start to get older, man. Once your eyes start to get, um, "aged," them iron sights start to get unfriendly.

It's hard to actually shoot in Hawaii. You basically have to go to an outer island, and it's not like Montana, Wyoming, etc. with a whole bunch of public land to tromp around in. On Oahu, we have a few ranges (only one outdoor setting) and maybe a couple of spots in the "rural" areas where clubs hold tactical shooting classes on private property.

This is just my opinion, and Im sure some will disagree:

Wheel guns (revolvers) are OK for the nightstand, but for an everyday carry/primary firearm, Id go semi-auto for higher mag capacity, ease of conceal, and comfort of carry. I personally would avoid wheel guns altogether as anything more than a collection piece you enjoy using at the range.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I totally agree with this. There is no concealed carry in Hawaii, so it's almost a moot point, but the good and bad of revolvers is the weight.

I attempted to buy a gun today and it’s the first time I have ever filled out paperwork to do so. All of my guns have been given to me or my wife.

My paperwork was placed on a Delayed Status by NICS. Can y’all explain a little better what that means? I think maybe it requires more research because it’s my first time or maybe. I have a name similar to someone on a database. Is this fairly common?

It happens more than you would think. If the atf doesn’t contact your ffl in 3 days you will be able to go get your gun. It could be because you have a common name. It used to happen to me but lately it hasn’t.

I am seeing that the check volume is astronomical right now and my ffl said it could take 30 days to be approved. If the law is 3 days to respond would most ffl go ahead and sell or could I be looking at 30 days to find out possibly. I’m in no rush and It’s not a big deal for me anyway.

I believe 3 days is the federal rule and minimum. States may have different rules and different ffls can have different policies on the rule as well. I know Walmart will hold your gun forever if you get delayed and they don’t get a response it’s their policy. Most of the ffl people I use go by the federal rule.

I had a “covid-life crisis” haha and bought a Remington 700 bolt action rifle in 6.5 creedmoor. I bought the cheap economy model and dropped it into a magpul hunter stock. Shoots like a dream. Part of me wishes I would’ve bought a 308 but my buddy talked me into the 6.5.

Anyone ever do the same? I’m looking to upgrade the trigger and eventuallly the barrel.

Literally all of my hunting friends rave about the 6.5 Creedmoor, so I think you made a good choice.

I swapped out the triggers on a couple of my Rem 700's. I had a Jewell trigger on my HB .308 and put a Timney on a .280 Rem. I think the factory sets the pull at around 7 lbs. It made a world of difference. I don't think you will need to swap the barrel on the Creedmoor unless you are doing a lot of target shooting and you notice your groups opening up. Good luck and straight shooting!

I laugh at the ammo prices.

People called me a hoarder, but I have 1,000's of rounds of .223, 5.56 green tips, 7.62, 9mm, 40 s&w, .308, and 22lr.

The only thing I didn't stock up on years ago was pellets for our backyard plinking.

All stores around me have a line of at least 50+ every morning hoping they have ammo.
