In Jiimbo's defense he needs the absolute best he can find at OC and DC because he sucks. Why Bobby Bowden gave him the reins at FSU is beyond me. He won a Ntl championship with Bobby's guys and then promptly ran that program into the ground. Without the best coordinators money can buy he will never win anything ever again. I still think he will fail either way.

Didn't Durkin have a lot of players stick up for him after the Maryland incident and weren't the doctors (or lackthereof) found at fault for how the overheating was handled? Not sure why he gets such a bad rap. But Petrino is very recognizably scummy.

I dunno about "a lot." Maybe a few? There was a pretty thorough report about the way players were treated at Maryland that went way beyond the kid's overheating death. Some players walked out of the team meeting after Durkin was reinstated. Maryland fired him the next day.

The backlash at Maryland was internal as much as it was external. He was reinstated and had a meeting with players minus any other coaches. Several players walked out of that meeting before it ended.

He's been a well known asshole since his playing days at Bowling Green. He's coached under Willingham, Meyer, Muschamp, Harbaugh (twice), Kiffin and now Fisher.

All people held in incredibly high regard on this board, I'm sure.

I hate that Fickell went to Wisconsin. It adds another team in the Midwest that will be good on the recruiting trail. I would have preferred he stayed at Cinci until one of the big jobs opened. Put him at OSU/Michigan/Penn State, fine, we already compete against them. Put him at Wiscy and now we have another competitor.

Haynes is a super cool dude. Got a chance to talk to him at a clinic. Very gentleman like and helpful. Didn't seem too big for the little guys like me. I'll always appreciate that.

There isn't but a few OC's I would put up there with Petrino for scripting the first 15 plays or so. It's the other 45-55 plays where Petrino turns average.
