Taylor has spent most of his career in California and all of his career on the West Coast. Seems like a good fit and a good hire.

Interesting move to can the best coach you ever had. Winning at the academy schools is hard. I know they have slipped a bit, especially with Army improving under Monken, but that's a big wow to me. It's not like they are going to go in a different direction and try to run a different offense.

Wow, not even asking him to resign? College football is ruthless.

Mike Leach hospitalized today. DC in charge until Mike is able to return. No specifics released as of yet as far as I can see. Hopefully a speedy recovery, college football is a better place with this guy giving interviews.

Not surprised based on my experience with leadership in the US Navy!
That’s a pretty vague and irresponsible statement.
You are linking your experience in the Navy with a football coach being fired, as if all leadership is bad.
In my experience, service members who consistently complain about leadership usually were the problem, not the leadership.
And I had AF, Navy & Army leadership depending on the command I was in at the time. All my leadership, from lower ranking officers all the way to the top was mostly excellent.

I don't know what the rules are about linking to other sites that quote paywalled stuff, but I saw this on reddit. It sounds pretty bad.

Get upset much about comments on a message board? Should I have put italics on my comment so that it wasn’t taken seriously? Funny that you would make that long statement and then say that all your leadership was mostly excellent. I guess coach Ken was just mostly excellent for the USNA and they can find better. Maybe their leadership knows what their doing but I don’t think they will find better.

Hope Leach comes out okay and makes a recovery. One of my favorite coaches personality wise.
Just looking at a MSU board. Some are saying he already passed. Terrible if true. Guy is truly a one of a kind.

Leach is one of the most weird/fun guys in college football. Really sad if this is going the way it seems to be.

Also, it sounds like Coach Leach's fight is over and people are waiting on a formal release from the University or family. Very sad.

Tough news about Leach. I've seen reports that he had a pulmonary embolism which led to a massive heart attack. Supposedly he then went a few minutes without breathing and his condition is pretty dire. This is typically a pretty sure path to death. I hope the reports are wrong and he can recover, but it's not sounding good. Leach is one of the most entertaining guys in sports. I hate this for him and his family.

Auburn is expected to hire former Tulsa head coach Philip Montgomery as its next offensive coordinator.

With Ron Roberts from Baylor, Freeze has his top lieutenants in place now.

Nothing official, and probably won't be until after the bowl game, but it's common knowledge that Bill O'Brien almost certainly won't return as Bama's OC. Supposedly, the leading candidate to replace him is Dan Mullen.
