Twitter post may be a bit overstated. I am however having flashbacks to when my daughter was gently leading her Grandpa as she wanted to show him her dorm room.

What a world we are in. College Football post pandemic really is something to behold.

BGSU HC leaves to be Eagles QB coach and his potential replacement is Eddie George of Tennessee State.

So the General Manager has more say than the Athletic Director and President of the University?
1st Law of MBA-ing - Push the risk down to the levels below you. This is very similar to the 4th Law of Thermodynamics - If the heat is on someone else, it is not on you.
- In Luck's case, Taylor was immediately below him, so there were no further lackeys to sacrifice.

1st Corollary to the 1st Law of MBA-ing - Take all the credit from the levels below you.
- If Luck makes a good hire, then the AD and President will take credit for it.

FWIW their AD is (unrelatedly) stepping down at the end of this year and the university president just got there in August. I doubt Luck did this without their input/agreement, but he might as well own it anyway since he'll own the replacement.

So Eddie George took the BGSU job, eh?

My private equity overlords have me spread so thin I totally missed the finality of it.

He's on the fast track.

I thought hiring from Sacramento State was a stupid idea anyway. Not surprised.

It was actually a good hire for them.

Taylor played at Cal, a high-academic program, spent a good amount of time coaching in the high school ranks in the Sacramento area, a did a phenomenal job at Sac State. The guy understood the academic rigors of a job like Stanford, and also had deep ties in the area.

Not a lot of takers for the Stanford job anyways, so even if hiring him was a stupid idea, he was the shiniest turd amongst all the other turds.

He just was dismissive of the idea of women in a man's sport, and in the end, his behaviour from that cost him his job.

What are the chances Luck kicks the tires on Shaw? Might not be a bad bridge hire since everything is bad timing wise. I know he just got picked up by the Lions too so not sure if he'd have any interest

They're probably going to do what Northwestern did when Fitz was let go and they'll have to promote from within.

Otherwise, call Ken Niumatalolo and see if he's interested, maybe?

to hold onto their players thats probably what they will have to do
Right. Northwestern promoted their recently hired DC David Braun that hadn't even coached a game for the program. Removed the interim tag after one year.

Difference is Braun had just gotten there.

There was a time when Marcus Freeman helped Kent State finish #18 while Notre Dame finished #1 in the same season.

Many people might not believe it, but I assure you it happened.
You guys almost made it to the NCG that same year but ya had to go and ruin it all, didn’t ya.
