Supposedly they would offer enough to double his current pay. Depends on how happy he is at Ok St.

Greg Schiano is a disaster of a hire for Tennessee. John Currie should resign if that’s his actual decision. Guy may have covered up child rape at Penn State. I would 1 billion % rather have Lane Kiffin back. Leach would also be better. So would Bobby Petrino. This is what I find disgusting. The initial reaction is about him being the wrong coach for TN and then the whole PSU thing comes up and boom - instant excuse for not hiring the coach that the fan base didn't want.

I think Gundy interviewed/showed interest back in 2012 and got a big raise from Ok St. If I was Tennessee, I would have to go into discussions assuming that he's just jockeying for a pay raise.

Article from 2013 talking about how Gundy almost became the Tennessee coach.

Back then the issue was Gundy didn't like the fact that the AD was scheduling tough games for the opening weekends of the seasons 2013 Miss St. 2014 - Florida St.. He didn't think it was necessary or conducive in trying to achieve the ultimate goal of winning a national championship.

Looking at their schedules since and into the future, it looks like the AD was accommodating to Gundy.

Yep, everyone has a price.

Interesting thought..........Does Vangundy go to the OSU AD or does he have his agent contact him? Either way it has to be awkward. He better have deal in place first.

Well reading this article about Gundy's relationship with Pickens makes me think that Gundy will be very interested in the Tennessee job. He also has had a rough relationship with the athletic director. If I'm a betting man, I bet he takes it.

Given what was made public about the previous flirtation with Tennessee leaving Pickens with some disdain how he used that to get some pay raises. I don't think Gundy would try to use this to get a pay raise.

Pickens has for the most part been supportive of Gundy, but he has previously been critical of Gundy's inability to beat Oklahoma. Guess what, they lost again. His record is now 2-11 against the Sooners.

If Gundy is using this to get another pay raise. I'm betting that Pickens tells him to go kick rocks.

Not sure how closely you follow Gundy or not, but this is almost an annual thing for him. Link to last years flirtation....

I have been wrong many times before in life, but I just don't see this one happening. Gundy will listen...he always listens. But going to UT right now is a nightmare, considering you have Kirby doing great things at UGA and Mullen will have UF much improved. Then you have Saban each year and have to battle Clemson in some key recruiting territories. Not to mention that the fan base just went loony less than a week ago. All of that, versus what amounts to a lifetime gig at OSU. I just don't see it.

This is what I don’t get about this Gundy interest in TN. If he wanted to jump to the SEC, why wouldn’t he be trying to talk to Texas AM or Arkansas? Those two schools have the same recruiting footprint as his current school. Of course his mullet does pretty much scream Tennessee.

Much tougher to win the SEC West

I agree. Texas is a hot-bed for athletes and they can stay close to home.. Arkansas - meh, about the same as TN IMO.

But yes,... the mullet will work for TN... I see many of them here!

Arkansas itself yes, but he can recruit the same Texas kids to Arkansas as he does now to Okie State.

Could he recruit those same Texas kids to Tennessee, thus expanding the recruitng map for Tennessee.

What? Big enough name?

If Jimbo doesn’t go, who has a bigger enough name?

Sheesh - I am on my phone so couldn’t italicize. I was attempting to make fun of their(and all) fan bases who complain no matter how good the coach they hire is.

Somewhere there's a universe where Notre Dame's BoD gets drunk and hires Lane Kiffin that I would love to visit. He'd be the most fun train wreck of all time. Imagine his Twitter trolling ESPN about anti-ND stuff. Imagine ND Nation. I can't express how entertaining I would find it. Not that I want it to happen in real life... But I'd love to get a peek of that world.
