They can't possibly get Sheffield on top of Rutherford and a #1 can they? Read Sox are wanting Ian Clarkin a 1st round lefty from '13.

I'd be happy with they're 3rd baseman Andujar too.

I feel like going over to the Wrong Sox thread and asking them are they crazy letting Frazier go to the EE?

You'd think Dombrowski of all people would know better than let this happen in a pennant chase. Don't need another Bridgeport --> Bronx, Bucky Inci-Dent

Not as *huge* of a return as originally was speculated, but getting a top 50 prospect (Rutherford checks in at 30) Clarkin, and a young prospect PLUS Clippard who could potentially bring forth more prospects is a huge boon for the Sox.

We gave up a rental player (Frazier), a decent closer (Robertson), and a guy in Kahnle who literally has been good for half a season. I'm happy with the return and will be ecstatic if Clippard can be flipped.

What they got back to get rid of the salaries of Frazier and Robertson was good but Tommy K has been lights out and with a 2.5x era over both season and his SO9 this season is at 15 and SO/BB = 60/7. Most importantly, he was under control for 2-3 more years too and is at $500k now. This was all about saving $25m of salaries and Tommy K was the key.

But the Sox have plenty of arms and $$$ to go buy more Tommy K's when the kids are ready to win.

This. Now get out and go watch the kids play! Support what the team is doing.

Seems like Red Sox and Yankees are in a bidding war for the whole package.

Yep.

First Rick Hahn calls Theo the Sunday after The Fourth and gets the Quintana Train moving. Then he gets the two AL ESPN, or East, giants to go to war over two relievers and Todd Frazier.

Robertson's money is gone, nor do you need a closer when you're tanking. Kahnle was going to go to arbitration and, guess what, he was going to get more money based on how he's done. Frazier's money is gone two months sooner than it would have been.

All Rick Hahn can do at this point is move Cabrera and Shields, then cure a few diseases and turn water to Old Style. It took him a little over six months to blow up a pile of garbage and turn it into a nice, shiny new toy.

They've called up Moncada today too.

Congratulations, White Sox fans. Your guy has done what needed to be done for you a long time ago. I will contend he saw the Yankees do this last year with two relievers and finally went to ownership to say "enough is enough."

This club's future is looking up right now.

No joke I've seen Gleyber Torres mentioned multiple times, but it seems like a package centered around Blake Rutherford/Jorge Mateo seems more likely. I've also seen Justus Sheffield thrown in there, also.

Bottom line is that it seems like a guarantee that we're going to get at least two top 100 prospects regardless of whether the package goes to Boston or NYY.

How p!ssed would the Cubs fans be if we ended up with both Torres and Jiminez???

I'd actually laugh at how idiotic the Yankees FO is because they traded Torres for a way passed his prime Todd Frazier and a reliever.

Chicago White Sox... The thread.

As irritating as it was to deal with Cub fans after they got one, it's been great for business. The Sox finally got off their ass and started using a blueprint that isn't "keep putting bandaids over bullet holes with shitty vet contracts." They feel the heat now, and are acting accordingly.

That and I think Jerry is actively selling the team, and was looking for a way to make it more attractive to buyers, showing they will have young talent in the pipeline for a future owner to build off of. Now lets just hope we don't sign in the next 5 years any of the big contract softball bats, such as Dunn, Laroche, rinse and repeat.

What's actually more important, from a competitive standpoint, is that the Cleveland Indians won the AL last year and look to have a pretty firm position as an organization right now going forward. They do their business smart.

Cleveland is in the White Sox' division, which outweighs the Cubs being in their city. I can't imagine they finally decided to rebuild solely because the Cubs finally won something. Everyone saw this Cubs thing coming. People forget they were in the NLCS in 2015. No one thought the Sox would deal with the Cubs. They gave them the best deal for JQ and it was a fit that everyone knew it was in the first place.

The White Sox were "going for it" for several years and couldn't even get to .500 in most of them. There had to be a self audit last year even before the Cubs won Game 7 in Cleveland where the White Sox said to themselves, "We can't go on like we are." Did it start with trading Zach Duke for Charlie Tilson? Probably not, but that was an interesting move in and of itself at the time and now in hindsight.

When the Yankees started their own mini rebuild by trading Chapman and Miller, Rick Hahn had to have seen this and known that Sale and Quintana would get the ball rolling for him. He sold high on Adam Eaton, and what a return that could end up being. Robertson was effective for them this year and Kahnle was incredible. They've played every chip they could to this point. If they're worrying about the Cubs, they shouldn't be.

No, the family wants the Bulls after he dies

I doubt they are for sale. The family said they don't want the Sox, but JR won't sell the team and pass the tax burden onto them.

It was a good deal for both teams. Rutherford doesn't really have a future with the Yankees as Judge/Clint Frazier and likely Bryce Harper will be manning the outfield for the next 6-10 years.

Todd Frazier is much better than Chase Headley and should see his at bats improve hitting in a better lineup. The relievers now give the Yankees 6 above average to elite guys to throw out there in Chapman/Betances/Robertson/Kahnle/Green/Warren.
