Coop will fix him in two weeks so Hahn can get more prospects
I feel like going over to the Wrong Sox thread and asking them are they crazy letting Frazier go to the EE?
You'd think Dombrowski of all people would know better than let this happen in a pennant chase. Don't need another Bridgeport --> Bronx, Bucky Inci-Dent
Not as *huge* of a return as originally was speculated, but getting a top 50 prospect (Rutherford checks in at 30) Clarkin, and a young prospect PLUS Clippard who could potentially bring forth more prospects is a huge boon for the Sox.
We gave up a rental player (Frazier), a decent closer (Robertson), and a guy in Kahnle who literally has been good for half a season. I'm happy with the return and will be ecstatic if Clippard can be flipped.
What they got back to get rid of the salaries of Frazier and Robertson was good but Tommy K has been lights out and with a 2.5x era over both season and his SO9 this season is at 15 and SO/BB = 60/7. Most importantly, he was under control for 2-3 more years too and is at $500k now. This was all about saving $25m of salaries and Tommy K was the key.
But the Sox have plenty of arms and $$$ to go buy more Tommy K's when the kids are ready to win.
Seems like Red Sox and Yankees are in a bidding war for the whole package.
No joke I've seen Gleyber Torres mentioned multiple times, but it seems like a package centered around Blake Rutherford/Jorge Mateo seems more likely. I've also seen Justus Sheffield thrown in there, also.
Bottom line is that it seems like a guarantee that we're going to get at least two top 100 prospects regardless of whether the package goes to Boston or NYY.
How p!ssed would the Cubs fans be if we ended up with both Torres and Jiminez???
As irritating as it was to deal with Cub fans after they got one, it's been great for business. The Sox finally got off their ass and started using a blueprint that isn't "keep putting bandaids over bullet holes with shitty vet contracts." They feel the heat now, and are acting accordingly.
That and I think Jerry is actively selling the team, and was looking for a way to make it more attractive to buyers, showing they will have young talent in the pipeline for a future owner to build off of. Now lets just hope we don't sign in the next 5 years any of the big contract softball bats, such as Dunn, Laroche, rinse and repeat.

No, the family wants the Bulls after he diesIs he shopping the Bulls too?
I doubt they are for sale. The family said they don't want the Sox, but JR won't sell the team and pass the tax burden onto them. That and I think Jerry is actively selling the team, and was looking for a way to make it more attractive to buyers, showing they will have young talent in the pipeline for a future owner to build off of.
