Wow. I don't think anybody expected Odunze to be there at 9. Zero defensive prospects either in the top 10.

Caleb's talent is undeniable, and i'd be surprised if he's not a perennial pro bowler. I'm sure he'll mature as he becomes the face of the franchise just like every other college kid.

I really hope the Bears organization does right with all this talent. I don't think I've ever been this excited about the offense in my lifetime following the Bears.

Curious to see what they do with their other two picks, Im guessing they trade back to add a few more. I'd look at adding an OT, or Edge guys maybe a another WR.

Music to my ears and can't be emphasized enough

Stop talking about how awesome the 85 Bears were
He was four months old when the Bears won their last and ONLY Super Bowl. When they drafted Rex Grossman, Ryan Poles was 5 months away from turning 18 years old.

He doesn't care about the Justin Fields loyalists, ND fans and mom hugger haters that want this to fail. Nor should he. Win a Super Bowl and every nail salon from Waukegan to Tinley Park will be filled with everyone from bankers to pipefitters. Most people don't care. They just want to see it get done.

People thought the same of Ohio State QBs. Didn't really matter to Stroud.
In addition to that, he had gone through his own pre-Draft smear campaign with questions about his attitude, coachability, football IQ, etc.

A lot of it was fabricated bullshit.

As for Lincoln Riley QBs: Mayfield, Murray and Hurts are all starters in the League. Hurts went to a Super Bowl. They have all gone through various obstacles when it comes to runs of poor form and injuries, but that's pretty normal for the most part.

Don't be surprised if the Bears don't trade up maybe a 4th and second round pick next year to get into the second round and grab Oregon Center Powers

I think Caleb flops long term. I think he'll have some shining moments but his pocket presence doesn't translate well. People are banking on him being so dynamic that he can generate points at will but I think it's going to be a lot tougher for CW.

Sorry to all the Bears fans, fortunately I'm only right about 50% of the time so he very well could be the next Mahomes.

His mindset will be the sole determining factor of his success.

I’m still not convinced he even likes football, and just plays it because he’s good at it, like Andrew Luck. He has those same eccentric qualities.

I don’t think they could have messed up their first two picks. But I feel like their third round pick was such a Bears type draft pick. They drafted a position of need but they drafted a guy who seems like a project at that immediate position of need.

Late third, you're probably not going to find a super sure-fire player at a position of need. There's going to be some development needed once you get into the middle rounds. I like the pick, because the dude has positional versatility and the size to be a dominant tackle or guard. 6'5 325. Reminds me of Braxton Jones.

Taking the Iowa punter was weird, but trading a 2025 pick to get Austin Booker was the chef's kiss of the 2024 draft.

QB, WR, OT and edge all taken in this draft. LFG.

Ugh, was listening to the radio this morning (I live outside of Grand Rapids, so Lions fans) and one of the guys went to the draft and said the Bears fans were booing the Williams pick.

Like. Think about it. Lions fans (which a majority of the crowd was) are going to boo every NFC north pick. Not sure why he thought the Bears fans would be booing the first overall QB and the best QB prospect in years.

What I have found over the weekend is that once you cut past the mouth breathers and mom hugger haters, the majority of Bears fans are happy with the pick, draft and offseason overall. The vast majority of people who matter like Caleb Williams. Once he left South Bend in 2023 in defeat, I was done with him as an SC Trojan. Couldn't care less, couldn't hate on him another minute more.

His mindset will be the sole determining factor of his success.

His mindset seems fine.

He's talking about winning games, winning championships, getting to know his teammates, chasing Tom Brady, doing off the field community work. Either he picked up some acting skills in Hollywood or he's good to go. One way or another, he saw the shit being said about him and has gone out of his way to do and say the right things leading up to Thursday night. I wish he was six foot three more than anything else. Everything else seems fine or is being totally overblown by some weird media storm.

As for being convinced he doesn't like football, I really have no idea how someone could come to this conclusion, but I kind of see where you are coming from. If it's true, Ryan Poles and Ian Cunningham completely missed it, and that's a very basic function of their jobs. Luck just told the Indy Star two weeks ago he still loves the game and got a Master's at Stanford so he can pursue endeavors in youth football. He went to Stanford and almost went to Northwestern. When you look at the visits CW took as a recruit, he's been a football guy in the sense that Luck probably was not. I might not be tracking and connecting what you're saying at all, but ultimately I'm not buying it.

So much of what has been said about Caleb Williams in the last few months seems like a lot of bizarre projection and the majority of it is coming from people who more or less just can't admit they don't like him. To be clear, not liking him is totally fine, but when that starts to cloud and muddy the football end of the conversation I lose interest. There are flaws to his game that are going to manifest and improve when he's a pro. At 22 years of age, he knows shit about life, but there is a reason you can't rent a car until you're 25 I suppose.

It's over with. Let's get to the first camp and get going. ND Football and Chicago Bear Football have not been this exciting for me in years.
