Per SI.com announcement of move expected today. Spanos tried to hold the city hostage and the folks of SD told him where to put it. The vote required 2/3rd's to pass and barely made 40%. I applaud the citizens of SD.

The NFL are idiots for pushing LA. They have never been able to support pro football. The new stadium will draw fans for a couple of years, but it wouldn't surprise me that within five years of being in the new stadium attendance really drops as will sales of gear.

Sales of gear is the big thing. Will more people in LA buy gear if its an LA team instead of SD? I'm not sure. I just don't see LA as a loyal fanbase..

The new stadium will supposedly only seat 22K. The sad truth is that nobody in SoCal seems to really want the Chargers. They always have a ton of fans for the away team in Qualcomm, and they have an owner more miserly than Scrooge. Something really needs to be done about that situation.

22K? that can't be right? MAC schools play to more fans

I had heard they were going to share the Rams stadium

LA has great loyal fans, (see others sports) but not for football generally,... everyone out here is like me and roots for some out of town team....

So stupid, SD deserves their team and I don't see them really catching on up here.... and there is zero reason LA should have two...

The stub hub thing is really odd to me, why not the Rose Bowl or Angel Stadium???

On another note: so glad I have this Kodi for NFL now, can just watch the Browns or Packers every weekend,... the worst thing about teams moving here is every Sunday was a Rams game... now it'll be nothing but the Chargers and Rams... I like the Chargers but have been turned off during the Rivers era, can't stand that guy....

Crazy to note that of the three: Chargers, Raiders, Rams the one that would have been best supported was the one that didn't move here....

I'm glad to see that it so obvious how the Chargers will not do good in LA. Among other reasons, all the Raider fans in LA (like myself) will never support the Chargers (forget the fact that they are an 'in-division' rival). I have been been saying the same thing in many threads:

No one in LA wants the Chargers, it will take the Chargers a few years to figure that out, and few more years to start looking to move again.

Stupid move IMO by both the city and the Chargers. For one the revenue and jobs that the Chargers bring the city is going to be missed. On the other hand the Chargers failing in LA is a for sure thing IMO. Neither side wanted to budge on what they wanted, the team wanted a stadium downtown and the city didn't want to raise hotel taxes to help pay for a new stadium no matter where it was built.

On the other hand I being a military member and currently stationed in SD think this sucks. Being in a city where you had the opportunity to see your favorite team play here ever 2 to 4 years was awesome. Not to mention the possibility of maybe seeing a CFP Championship game here in SD with a new stadium.

From talking to other fans here, the only way they will be successful is if they rebrand the team and start over.

Oh geez really?? Their unis are classic... too bad... I wonder if they'll still known as the Chargers...

What will be interesting is how they brand themselves. They might not even be the LA Chargers. They may try the NE approach and be the Southern Cal Chargers or maybe drop Chargers all together and rebrand completely.

On a serious note: Spanos just released a statement saying they will be the Los Angeles Chargers... maybe they don't stick to that but that's where they are now...

I would name them the California Chargers.

There is already a professional sports team with the acronym LAC.
