During St. Peter's Prep's 31-14 victory over Bergen Catholic on Saturday night, quarterback Brandon Wimbush had a first half to forget, throwing one touchdown, but three interceptions. The second half, though, was a completely different story. The future Notre Dame signal caller threw three touchdowns, all to Minkah Fitzpatrick, but none were bigger than his final strike of the night.
On that play, with the score 23-14 Marauders, St. Peter's Prep had the rock at their own 36-yard line. Wimbush dropped back, looked downfield and fired off a deep ball to Fitzpatrick. Now, this wasn't an ordinary throw. The 6-2, 220-pounder released the ball from the 31-yard line and Fitzpatrick caught it at the five, before jogging into the end zone.
The ball traveled 64-yards in the air and is being debated as the longest throw in high school history.

On the night, Wimbush finished with 430 passing yards and 98 rushing yards. He and his Maruaders will face Paramus Catholic at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, for the Non-Public, Group 4 championship.

? Sweet highlights but he doesn't play for either team.
haha yeah im looking for a link for Brandon's last game. Hold on fella!
Wimbush''s SPP squad face Paramus in the state finals.
Interesting that the playoffs are "non-public."
I wonder how many states do that. It's been an issue in Kentucky for a while now, with a vocal minority petitioning for separate public/private playoffs, but that's mostly because the big private schools in Louisville have had a strangle-hold on the big class state title for a long time now.
I thought it was an outlandish idea, but now I see that maybe it's not.

The catch occurred at the 6- or 7-yard line rather than the 5-yard line. So that's 62-63 yards in the air. That's not steak sauce. Far from 65 yards.
So he's far from 75-yard, Kordell Stewart standards.
As for Wimbush, we're in the process of making some moves in our rankings now and he's one that could continue to climb. He's had a monster year, all the tools are there and he's performed well in every setting. His ranking won't be finalized until after the All-American games but he's a guy that we may reposition heading into that setting.
Not a lot of love for Kizer on this board. I feel like he's consistently overlooked when we talk about bridging from Malik to the "next guy."
*Raises Hand*
I think Kizer will end up being the best of Golson/Zaire/Kizer.
Gunner is and always has been a good QB. During his time at ND, Golson was in a better position for PT than he was and he didn't want to wait. There shouldn't be any hard feelings and to say he isn't good is pretty crazy. With that said I think Wimbush is the real deal and if I'm comparing the two at the same stage. I'll give the edge to Wimbush because he's the better ATH and everything else other than height is negligible. Since I don't believe Wimbush is too short to play QB i don't view the height differential as a major upperhand. Also, Wimbush may have a stronger arm, close call here, as Gunner is a big kid but he has some stiffness to him that I think keeps a lid on his real arm strength.
Kizer definitely has best pro ceiling. I don't even really know if that's arguable. But he isn't especially fast (he IS "athletic" in the sense that he isn't a statue like Manning or Brady and can keep plays alive... similar to Winston in that regard).
QB situation is going to be mighty competitive next year and moving forward.
Every time this thread is bumped I freak out. This guy is more suited for Kelly's offense than anyone we have...IMO. He will be a menace with the read option as I think he is a natural runner. No need to comment on his arm strength (65+ yards in the air) or his accuracy as he was close to a record on completion %. I'd like to hear that he is leading the charge on the recruiting front AKA Jaylon.
