Word is that the players loved him until he started making them balance on one foot for 5 minutes before completing a drill.
Oh the bowl game isn't what I'm worried about. The portal recruiting is a December event and we have to have a WR coach if we expect to get anyone good.Let him finish what he started at UW, Im sure we can manage the edible mascot bowl down a position coach...lol
It certainly beats the alternative (as of today anyway). That's what I was thinking.
Using Hartline as an example (we aren't getting him, just using him for illustration purposes), he comes in as co-OC and WRs coach, and Parker retains a co-OC/TEs coach role.
I could get behind that.
Yeah, something isn't adding up here...Soo, the players hate him, but JT and now Rico seem to be disappointed he's out.
Exactly which players were threatening to leave, Bryan?
Are you suggesting Mr. Driskell would lie about such things for clicks?!Soo, the players hate him, but JT and now Rico seem to be disappointed he's out.

Yep. Certain people are eventually going to run out of viable arguments that its all Rees and Kelly's fault. But not yet.Maybe I remember it wrong as well but I remember things differently. When everyone was creaming in their shorts over Stuckey, it was seen as Freeman’s hire. Now that he’s gone, it’s Rees’s hire?
I wouldn't give Parker a complete pass either, but it appears he saw something at practice that gave him pause. It's also easy to fall in love with your favorite toy (AE).This is the narrative that IB is going with, but they definitely aren't giving Parker a complete pass.
Greathouse and Tobias? Just random guesses. So it's sounds like some players took his approach well but a majority had issues with him. MF usually likes to wait until after the bowl game to make changes but it had gotten so bad that they were worried about loosing at least two players to the portal that they couldn't afford to loose so they had to make the change sooner
And just yesterday MF was telling us how he loved continuity. Some folks need to quit taking everything literally and read between the lines or listen to what he didn't say.Per friend of a friend, ND was reaching out to at least one potential hire weeks ago (not a WR coach). Given that and the Leonard/Howard QB rumors, it seems like ND's been pretty proactive about things.
I like this scenario right now. Only question is who signs off on Co OC salaries? Ultimately, to get a guy like Hartline or Shephard or whomever, you've gotta pay them an OC salary. Shephard is making $800k at UW and has all the titles but OC.That's what I was thinking.

"You know, if I had been the WR coach, and I coached All-Americans back in my coaching days, I would have gotten some of these guys in more" *reads which receivers didn't spend most of the year hurt* "Specifically Tobias and Tyree"Driskell blaming Stuckey for not putting Tobias and Tyree in the game often enough
Lol is Driskel high? Maybe it's because Faison was the only one getting seperation or Thyree and Tobias were dropping ballsDriskell blaming Stuckey for not putting Tobias and Tyree in the game often enough
From what I remember, Tobias and Tyree's dads were/are sources of his.Lol is Driskel high? Maybe it's because Faison was the only one getting seperation or Thyree and Tobias were dropping balls
Would likely even be a better full time coach than Del...would certainly recruit better...FWIW... I wouldnt be surprised if Chad Bowden temporarily slots into his spot on the staff for recruiting purposes.
Never a good situation to be in where players are forcing your hand on anything. Warped power dynamics, etc.So it's sounds like some players took his approach well but a majority had issues with him. I don't think that was what was being said about Stuckey. That was what was being said about Parker when Parker was hired as TE coach. The only thing I remember that people kept repeating about the Stuckey hire was that he killed it during the interview and impressed everyone.Wasn't it rumored at the time that MF went over Tommy's head to make the Chansi hire? Which one is it?

I’m not super familiar with the in-game dynamics of substitutions, but does the position coach decide which WRs are on the field on a given play?Driskell blaming Stuckey for not putting Tobias and Tyree in the game often enough

abrupt timing? the season just ended and it's open coach hiring season...Man. 3 pretty abrupt staff changes at strange times in short order. Wonder what the dynamic is on staff with MF in charge.
