Urban Meyer will retire from coaching after Ohio State's appearance in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day, the school announced Tuesday.

Ryan Day, who currently is Ohio State's offensive coordinator, will take over as the Buckeyes' head coach on Jan. 2.

Meyer, Day and Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith will discuss the decision at a news conference Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET.

Meyer owns a career record of 186-32 and has coached the Buckeyes to an 82-9 record in seven seasons at the school.

Meyer is absolutely gonna be USC’s coach in a year lol.

He’ll ride out a relatively cozy retirement gig where the top talent lines up to play for him in SoCal until LA starts to wear on him after four or five years, then he’ll start getting headaches, then he’ll retire again.

The going didn't get tough, though. At UF Saban beat him badly in the 2009 SEC title game, and that was that. There hasn't been a torch-passing game in the Big 10, he still runs the league. Neither Harbaugh nor Franklin have proven themselves better.
