Never said he was scared. It’s objectively easier to win the Big 10 West versus the ACC Atlantic. It’s not being scared it’s being realistic. Purdue returns their top player to go with a easy schedule and top recruiting class while Louisville is a dumpster fire. If being pragmatic is scared then a lot of people live their life scared in your definition.

The underlying thought to your argument is fear whether you want to admit it or not. Pragmatics or whatever you want to call it, don’t come into play when thinking about going to your dream job. This was “home to him” and what kept him away is the connection he made with Purdue, the community and certainly his players, not where is it easier to win because that’s the type of guy he is. What’s simple about this is he wouldn’t break his promise to his players.

Think I found Jeff Brohm’s burner.

Of course Appalachian St and Troy coaches being labeled as candidates for the GT job. One interesting name being thrown out there is Chargers OC and former NFL Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt. Don’t know if GT would be willing to wait till late January to hire him but a name to keep an eye on.

I mean theoretically he could interview for the job during the season if he was able to escape the Chargers for a day. Then they could hire him before the Chargers season and playoff run is complete. Obviously he couldn’t physically be with GA Tech until the Chargers season is complete, but he could put a staff together while working for the Chargers. Ala Charlie Weis 2005.

I love that Brohm turned down the Louisville job (this time).

Now he can:

(1) Complete his extended audition as a potential replacement for BK in two years (Clark Lea might be ready by then, though... jk. Maybe.) If he keeps Purdue on the upswing, and wins the B1G West a time or two, JS can back up the money truck whenever BK has had enough.

or

(2) He can wait for someone else to at least rebuild the floor at Louisville, and then take that job whenever Saban retires, prompting Dabo to leave Clemson and head to Bama.

It's conceivable, but I wonder how the early signing period impacts things like this? Is a school willing to wait?

Early signing day probably does change the calculus on hiring an NFL coach. At least some recruits are going to want to know who they’ll be playing for before they sign. If you can hire a good college coach now, s the NFL guy later worth potentially blowing up a recruiting class over?
You might see more people do what Weis did - take a college job but stay with their NFL team until the season’s done - but you’re talking two or three weeks after early signing day, plus the playoffs. That’s a long time.
So it may not be a deal killer for the right coach. But it’ll certainly complicate life.

according to footballscoop, Mach Brown has hired Greg Robinson to be DC. At this point, I would expect the OC to go to Darrell Wyatt.

Prayer? PRAYER?

I pray that he stays forever so we can beat that asshat for the rest of his life.

Eh, for the most part, Shaw hasn't even had to ask Brian Kelly to pull his pants down and let him go town on him- BK's just complied.

I hope this year was the turning point.

Grob to Gene Chizik....You think you can keep me & Mack out of Chapel Hill? We're moving in lock, stock and barrel. We're gonna be in the pool. We're gonna be in the locker room. We're gonna be all over that shuffleboard court! And I dare you to keep me out!

This was a case of EXTREME overreaction by authorities, IMO, but it's understandable... If I'm an administrator charged with the safety of thousands of kids, I'm probably erring on the side of overreaction, too.

Having said that, the "threat" was very clearly a joke tweet from a semi-popular Louisville fan on Twitter, and the "threat" was posted hours before Brohm actually turned Louisville down, meaning he didn't even have a legitimate motivation to put forth an actual threat lol. He was basically using gallows humor, based on rumors that Brohm might turn them down, and then tied Brohm's old high school into it.

It was in slightly poor taste... but it's a farce that the guy is actually getting charged with a crime, considering the "threat" doesn't even match the timeline of events.

There was a 15 year stretch where the SEC East was loaded and the West was average, then the balance shifted.

Its cyclical, but you are right. I just dont see the balance shifting in the B1G ever, just getting worse each year.

Nebraska is never going to be a top 5 team again, and you know what you are getting each and every year with the Wisconsin/Iowa types.

I could see Nebraska making a decent run with Frost due to their history and the the lack of competition on their side of the BIG. I'm not suggesting they're some sleeping giant and will be the next Bama but I do think they could make a run similar to Oklahoma over the last decade.

Maybe, but school safety is not something you want to joke about in this day and age.

From what I've heard on a couple of shows after UoL offered Brohm, Purdue upped the ante which confirms the thought that Purdue is committed to upgrading the program.

Looks like Matt Wells is going to be the Head Coach at Texas Texh from Utah State.
Rumors that Bill Snyder will also be retiring with North Texas Coach the front runner.

Reporter who covers Purdue said it's around $6M a year which puts him in the top 10 in the country. He didn't have any info on how it's broken down. They built the new athletic complex, but I have no idea how it compares. His new salary definitely says they are committed.

I also heard (can't confirm) that Louisville came in initially with a low ball number. If true, it kind of fits my previous posts about money drying up and UoL being cautious given the Schnatter, Pitino and Petrino incidents.
