1) Get healthy....we need Jafar, Pride, Hayes, Kareem, Hainsey and everyone else to take a week to heal or freshen up.

2) Run game strategy and consistency. I get it, there were two major changes in the last two months since camp concluded in August. First, Wimbush to Book. Obviously they have different skill sets and the running game strategy is different between the two. Couple that with Bars' injury, the running game has been boom or bust. They have a week to focus on this and get it corrected. As of now, the impact of Quinn on recruiting has been great, but the OL play has been meh. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt up until now. But if this continues into and beyond November, ND is going to lose a regular season game to someone they shouldn't or get slaughtered in the playoffs.

3) Kick coverage.

Don't the players normally go home on bye weeks and maybe 1 or 2 practices are held?

Since this is a bye week, I have a decision to make. I haven't washed the shirt that I wear on game days since we beat Michigan. Do I continue to not wash it or do I take a chance and wash it during bye week so it's fresh and ready for the end of the season push?

that is really silly, why would you even think about washing it?

I think we need to consider giving some younger guys a shot at the two guard positions. Kraemer isn’t capable of consistently pulling in the run game and generally looks slow out there. Ruhland is a fighter but has a hard ceiling based on physical limitations. Let’s see what Lugg and Banks can do.

There's only two games out of our seven that I can recall the OL being "meh" Ball State and Pitt. The other five I thought they played pretty well. Certainly there's plenty room for improvement but let's not act like they've played like crap the entire year.

OL absolutely got whipped against Michigan in the second half, and were uneven (but not awful) in the first half.

We are going to get some really good data this week as Football Outsiders publishes offensive line stats after week 7. Will be interesting to see where ND will be (compared to other P5 teams) on:

- Opportunity Rate: The percentage of carries (when five yards are available) that gain at least five yards.

-Power Success Rate: This is the same as on the pro side -- percentage of runs on third or fourth down, two yards or less to go, that achieved a first down or touchdown.

- Stuff Rate: Same as STUFFED on the pro side -- percentage of carries by running backs that are stopped at or before the line of scrimmage.

Didn't we have a coach in charge of improving the run game? I think we need a Czar in charge of that again. I say now that teams are starting to figure out Book he needs to work on making his deep throws accessible like he did in the 4th Qtr. We need the PI opportunity or the chance to one of our guys to fight for the ball. Even finke is a gamer when it comes to grabbing the ball when its up fro grabs.

We need to run the Wildcat with BW. He has always been good at taking the direct snap with no fakes or pass options and just run it east west for 5 yards plus.

On D we need to learn how to make plays on the ball and play tighter coverage. In prep for Navy how to get off your blocks and smother them. this Navy team is off from the past and I'm going to the game so we better open a can of wuuuppass!

Just noticed our San Diego game against Navy is a 7pm'er, which essentially loses us a half day for the following week.

Then our game at NW is a Friday night to make matters worse. WTF.

At least ND has learned its lesson and the team will be staying the night in SD after Navy.

Also the NW game is definitely on a Saturday. At least per NW's website: https://nusports.com/index.aspx?path=football

Staff needs to figure out what they're going to do at LG for the rest of the season. I think it's clear Banks has a higher ceiling, it's just a question of whether he's a better option this year. If he is, start getting him ready during the bye week, start him against Navy and Northwestern to get some experience so he's ready to compete against higher caliber defensive linemen he'll face against FSU, USC and whoever they play in the playoffs, assuming they lock down a spot.

Same is probably true on the defensive side of the ball at nickel. Griffith played better but Bracy played well too and may have given them some options. I guess they can just keep killing the opposing QB too. That'll help the situation.

1. Get stuff done around the house. Perfect weekend to knock out items on the honey do list.
2. Do something fun with the wife, something that she likes more than I. In our case, going wine tasting.
3. Going to be a beautiful fall weekend here, try and get in a hike, hit some golf balls, etc. Something outside.

My version of this would be:

1. Have the kids get stuff done around the house. Perfect weekend for them to knock out items on my honey do list.
2. Avoid doing something fun with the wife, something that she likes usually means binge watching teenie bopper horror shows. I'd take her out but she's embarrassing and can't stop until she's guzzled entire cases of wine.
3. Going to be a beautiful fall weekend here, but it's 2018 and who the hell likes that shit. Lock me up in my man cave while I watch hours upon hours of sports or play video games while otherwise avoiding any actual responsibility or interactions.
