Who's saying it wasn't?

That was the least of Kelly's problems.

It wouldn't have been as bad if it wasn't Chris Brown's FIRST carry of the season. It's not like it was a play that had worked in the past anywhere on the field, let alone the goal line.

When are people allowed to be upset?

Right now. But don't lose your mind over it. You know that there was a chemical plant leak in Texas today that killed 4 people? THAT is a tragedy. Losing to Northwestern is a kick in the balls, but it is NOT a tragedy. The sun will still rise in the East, and set in the West, tomorrow.

If it were me, I'd play Malik half of each of the final two games, just to see what he can do, against good competition, and help prepare him for the future.

But it will never happen.

BK lost today, when he should have won...nothing more frustrating.

But who do you want?

Yeah... wasn't a great set of play calls there but that isn't what got the Irish in the end. Sometimes you are damned if you do and damned if you don't.

How much to hire Kirby Smart away from Saban to coach defense?

In terms of ND Football, today was as bad as it gets. It's the game where you all of a sudden realize that next year may not be "the year" after all. It's the game where many of us finally think "Is BK really the guy for the job?"

Yes, it's just one game. But for me, it raised a ton of negative thoughts I never came close to entertaining before today.

Just saying that was the least of the problems I saw out there.

Kirby's ship has sailed IMO. I think he would fall under that "good coordinator - bad HC" thing. Kinda like our buddy Will down in Fla. Heard Will may head to S Carolina as DC if he is let go at the end of the year. That may keep OBC around for a little while longer.

OK well I changed it back (sorta)... it's not about ego, it's about dumbassery.

I made a post about changing it and got a couple approval posts and the original one wasn't very formal so I changed it. Sorry if I overstepped.

I completely agree with the sentiment that Kelly stunk this game up but this D giving up 40+ points to NW is un-fricking-real. They didn't score more than that in the last 3 games combined. I'll take Diaco's bend don't break any time now. But hey, BVG has a killer stache

Yeah. This is about as bad as you can get. BVG's defense is faltering without Schmidt. Kelly's play calling is now borderline absurd. The special teams continue to suck. 7-3, and things looked so good just a month ago.

Been a rough stretch but the Irish will get better. Learn from it and move on. Make a commitment from the staff on down to get better at every aspect of the game. The Irish are getting closer. Some more depth, a few skilled playmakers, and things turn around. Young teams with not much depth go through this. And one win can get them going again.

I will say that carrying the ball out in open space as a WR is very different from carrying it in the congestion that is the line of scrimmage.

To the underlined part, is the fumble the least of the problems or the playcall?

Okay........ but don't lose your mind over it. When ND is trailing by 7 in the 4th Quarter, and you see one of them give up, do you make excuses about how the score probably really has them down or do you expect them to keep their wits about them, and just steadily plug away?
