The problem with this conversation is both sides end up saying things that are just non-sensical. Between the 2020 and 2021 classes they had 13 top 150 players. Last cycle Freeman signed 6. Nobody quit recruiting. They just weren't consistent enough at it, maybe most importantly positionally speaking.

This if fair, although, I'd submit that some were pretty bad while others tried to pick up the slack. And it should go without saying that there are also many more variables to consider going from high school prospect to NFL draft pick. Talent eval, development, injuries, busts, transfers, etc.

I think what Jamie pointed out can be debated, like you say, however I took the point more as a general saying, "ND's NFL draft talent fell off compared to other programs during a span in which BK was talking about closing the gap." He didn't.

ND needs to get back to churning out 7+ draft picks every year, ideally high draft picks. No one should expect Georgia or Bama level production, but ND shouldn't be lagging behind the likes of Penn State.

What I hope is that Bevacqua can open up the treasury and pay coaches handsomely enough to outbid the schools with far less money (literally nearly everyone relevant) than ND. We don’t pay kids. We don’t bend more academically (beyond what we’ve already done for athletes), and we don’t pay to keep coaches. Something has to give. Pay the coaches. Build the best facilities and hire the best coaches.

OSHA (the feds), the State Police, local police, ND’s independent counsel, & Declan Sullivan’s family’s own independent counsel, all investigated and came to the same conclusion.
That’s why nothing happened & even the Sullivans, despite losing their own son, don’t hold ND responsible.

As someone who saw this in the military, let me explain what happens. Service members make mistakes, they die. The military isn’t going to blame them and they publicly call it tragic & how the person was heroic.

The investigations (all of them) found that Declan was told no, by two different people with authority, then a third person with no authority told him to do what he wanted. He chose to go up. He joked about it with his friends over messages. Tragedy occurred.
BK had nothing to do with it & was immediately cleared.

As for the players & vacated wins.
