I don’t blame him for taking that much money, I blame him for how he’s doing it. Like I said I was always a big BK fan but I hope he fails miserably in the SEC
I feel bad for a guy like Elston.
BK has now sold his soul. No time for nice guy assistants. He had better hire some damn good assistants.
There could be if this drags on. OU looks to have made their move and they were equally as blinsided. ND needs to move now to get it done. I think Freeman should be the guy. It's a gamble, but I think it's a bigger gamble to allow him and Rees to walk (which they will) while trying to find your prefect fit. Freeman will be fine, just make the move and get out of the way.
You don't make a 10 year decision for one recruiting class.
Threewords for everyone in Camp Freeman: Brian Van Gorder
No one "walks" from a job unless they get a better offer. I guarantee ND admin is in a war room now with the remaining coaches trying to lock them down until a hire is decided upon. Then the new head coach will retain whoever he wants at the helm.
People have been complaining about Kelly all. fucking. season and now he's gone so I'm surprised some on this board aren't happier.
He is not ready. He's been a D coordinator for one year at a power 5 level school. No way. ND isn't a school to cut your teeth on as a head coach anyway, let alone a guy with such little coordinator experience.
Brian Kelly wrecked that plan.

FIFY… time to bring him home.

Bob Stoops won't come because ND won't work with him. LSU just hired away our guy that didn't mind ND not working with him.
See how ND screws itself and is hopelessly behind the times?
I'm sorry but it really doesn't matter if he's ready. I keep reading myopic shit that implies that the most important thing right now is panickedly finding the perfect long term coach. It's not. The most important thing is keeping the '22 class together we have two weeks until signing day and were blindsided. You are going to set the program back YEARS if you lose this class.
Much easier to just promote Freeman and if he struggles you start looking for that "perfect" coach. Costs you nothing. Swinging for the fences on this hire or landing a guy with no proven recruiting chops can cost you everything.
The difference is Freeman can recruit.
The other lesson from Jimmy Lake is that you can fire a coach whenever you want. Roster consequences have a longer tail.
Now really isn't the time
