Our program is stable and a true blue blood and we're competing for the playoffs/in the playoffs every year. Man this sucks but I just can’t be mad at BK. My formative years as an ND fan were Davie, Willingham, and Weis. He took ND to heights I wouldn’t have ever expected in 2007 or 2009, hell even 2016. The next coach inherits a loaded program and there shouldn’t be a significant drop off.

He is not ready. He's been a D coordinator for one year at a power 5 level school. No way. ND isn't a school to cut your teeth on as a head coach anyway, let alone a guy with such little coordinator experience.

There could be if this drags on. OU looks to have made their move and they were equally as blinsided. ND needs to move now to get it done. I think Freeman should be the guy. It's a gamble, but I think it's a bigger gamble to allow him and Rees to walk (which they will) while trying to find your prefect fit. Freeman will be fine, just make the move and get out of the way.

Freeman knows more about being at a top tier program that either Rhule or Campbell. I would rather take the risk on Freeman than Campbell, especially with recruiting. Fickell is good if you can get him to say yes before signing day, but that is unlikely to happen.

Honestly, the Elston things are funny. If he didn't get the DC job at ND, why would he at LSU? I could see Freeman being promoted and Elston being DC in name though.
