This is the greatest thread ever,.... I love you guys
Agree. Unlike some other threads (like the political ones) this one is full of rational, well thought out discourse.

The extension being announced as the offense struggled to find its feet in the 1st half must have sent NDNations board into pure meltdown
Sadly all you will hear BK say is how hard it is to win in cfb. Yet the good teams kill the bad teams every time. Then you have ND who makes bottom dwelling teams look like worldbeaters.
We are so close to putting it together.
Word of advice,... stay off social media. Tennessee, Auburn,... barely any mention. ND is getting savaged like they lost
Bruh. Please define ‘putting it together’ ,....
I’m pretty optimistic. We are only a couple impact players and an elite QB away from being able to compete with the perinnial power houses. We are pretty much 24-3 the last three years, our physicality and S&C is clearly improving the on field product. I’m pretty happy overall with where the team is compared to the 4-8 season.

Here’s a question,... where did Kelly’s offense from Cinncy ever go?? I remember watching those teams and thinking, ‘goodness, if this system ever got a defense’,.... yet here we are

If Buchner doesn't start at some point next year I think I'll jump off the Kelly train. Because that means it's a 3 star QB with limited ceiling starting for ND yet again.
He's done more for Notre Dame than anyone since Holtz but if Buchner isn't the guy then I think it's time to move on. He relaid the foundation but I'm not sure he can complete the whole project.
Are you referring to Book coming back? If he doesn't (which I hope) then it could be Drew Pyne starting:
247 Comp ..... 4* ..... #7 QB-P ..... #113 OA ..... .9509 rating
247 ............... 4* ..... #8 QB-P ..... #228 OA ...... 90
Rivals ............ 4* ..... #5 QB-P ..... #56 OA ........ 5.9
ESPN ............. 4* ..... #7 QB-P ..... #103 OA ...... 83
Not a 3 star with a low ceiling. Also had a lot of offers including Alabama, Auburn, LSU, scUM, among others
Those rankings are quite outdated. Ended up .9164 composite.

87 composite, 18th pro, 517 national
87 rating by 247, not composite.
Anyways, enough nitpicking lol.
his comp is 87 (0.8681)
his 247 is 88
I was talking to my dad after the game about this, but the lack of execution on offense is maddening. Scheme seems to be fine as there are numerous people open during the course of a game. But Book at QB is killing us at times. The pieces are there for this to be a really good team. You have a studly defense and an offense that can run the ball well. But the gaps in execution on offense (especially in the passing game) hamstring us so much. Why wouldn't any team just stack 9 in the box and dare us to pass? If we could actually put all these pieces together during a game, its going to be a fun game. Do I think this happens this season? Maybe for a couple of games. But not against Clemson
I'm far from an elite football mind but I'd think 8 guys in the box all night unless Book figures it out. Since we are all confident we will get stomped by Clemson, we are definitely going to miss a 40 yard field goal to win, drop a winning touchdown, or give up a late score to lose. Notre Dame hasn't dropped a Heartbreaker (TM) since the Clemson Hurricane game as far as i can remember.
