Time for fun questions with drunk Greyhammer. Out of the teams that we consider academic contemporaries who hav we beaten the last time we played?

Hint:

Its not duke northwestern stanford

When was the last time we played Rice or Vandy?
Or do we consider BC an academic contemporary?

I hope the chairman of the BOT, who was introduced before the game, saw this disaster in its entirety. The program cannot beat an awful Stanford team, at home, without its Heisman candidate RB. In year 7. To retain Kelly is to consciously do harm to the program and the university. It is indefensible.

Are we so sure that Sanford isnt part of the problem?

Something doesn't make sense in that room... I've always been a fan of Denbrock as well. Between Sanford, Denbrock, Hiestand and Denson (dont care for Booker) isnt there one coach that can get in Kellys face and question what is going on?

He just lost every recruit on his board tonight. Who would want to play for that prick in their right mind honestly?

I know we love to do this as fans, but why is Sanford regarded as some coaching guru around here? His QBs are regressing and the offense looks like dog shit. I'm not sure how much he is involved in everything but to me he's all rep at this point.

I would like to think we can beat Army, but I don't see us beating anyone else.

In SEVEN years under Kelly, Notre Dame will have finished ranked in the top 10 ONCE. And the only time they did they got absolutely embarrassed by Alabama. I'm so sick of ND looking emotionless when they play. It's honestly incredible that Kelly has been able to recruit so well. It has to be the school selling itself because their is nothing exciting about ND's program in it's current state.

Agree, the Sanford love fest is a little odd. He reminds me of the guy who has the reputation of being able to kick anyone's ass, yet nobody has ever seen him fight. He's obviously not done a great job with the QBs this year.

I have no clue if Sanford is an answer. However, this season is a complete loss. Nothing to lose in giving Sanford the reigns while searching for permanent solution. If someone thinks there is a better interim option I would consider that. I just want BK gone on Monday and for an interim to take over rest of the season while coaching search is underway. BK has totally lost the team and we gain absolutely nothing by him coaching out the season.

Legit question. Is there actually a record where Swarbrick will fire him? I've made my feelings known that I don't think there is anyone better we are going to get, but is there a point that will make Swarbrick act? This team looks really really poor. I know we haven't been getting lit up but it should be pretty indefensible to go 2-5 with the teams we played.

It just seems like everything in the program is completely fucked. I try not to be too reactionary but god damn this is discouraging. I'm sure that feeling is permeating through the team. I'm at least hoping Jack is having some serious discussions.

Kelly is being out coached. And not just because of this year. He is getting coached by not developing his players in the first 2 years. We have good players on our team and we should not be losing to Duke and NC State or this game. We lost good players from last year but there is no excuse here. We shouldn't need to play freshman all over the D.I can't defend Kelly any longer. I honestly think it's time for a change.

5 losses, year 7, to 5 mediocre teams. More losses to come.

All winnable games, all by one score, and every single one had at least one seriously questionable coaching decision.

He's got to go. Can't believe we just extended him.

This is when the one score losses turn into three or four score losses. I have a feeling this will be happening with Miami, Va Tech and USC on deck.

Not protecting your boy Sam Mustipher this week? The weather effected his snapping again I'm going to assume according to you. Kelly didn't throw him "under the bus this week." Because of people like you who don't want to hold 20/21 year old men accountable, Kelly is unable to sit him and chastise him.

I know you are very very very young. And you probably think Lou Holtz was always great. This is not the case. After the 1993 season, Holtz only had one good year. Bob Davie's was mediocre. Don't really even need to saying anything about Willingham. Early tonight I stated that this season is lower than 2007 season, I was called out that I was wrong which is correct. Weis had two good years, 2 mediocre to below mediocre years and the worst season I have ever experienced as being a Notre Dame fan in 2007. That team only won 3 games, but majority of the loses were blow outs. This Notre Dame team has lost 5 games with the largest margin being 8 point.

What you and the majority of the fans on this site don't understand is Notre Dame will never be what it was in the past and with the administration the way it is will never be as good as they were with Holtz in the late 80's and 90's. Notre Dame just is not the destination for coaches that we all think it should be.

Yup, this was the team's last stand tonight. They were ready to go and thoroughly outplayed Stanford in the first half.

Then they imploded to start the second half, and Kelly turned to Zaire (lol) and that was the game.

I don't know how he can face that locker room when to a man they know he cost them three drives, and doesn't believe in their leader on offense. I don't fault Kelly for trying to send a message to Kizer -- who seems to play horribly for large stretches of some games, holds the ball way too long, and routinely makes insanely bad decisions in big moments to change the complexion of games -- but if you do that your Plan B better not do what Zaire did. If Zaire can't play, he can't play. Which then begs the question why there was ever a QB competition instead of tabbing Kizer earlier and investing in getting him ready.

THAT'S, the biggest problem.

Yes, it literally is the biggest problem. We are in fucking Weis territory AGAIN after swearing it would never, ever happen under someone like "Savvy Jack"... with 1 or 2 years on his contract, we just go get someone better. The end. Having to eat up to $25mil handcuffs us severely.

We have borderline top 5 talent if you go by recruiting rankings which would indicate that this narrative is BS. No one expects a Bama like dynasty but 9-11 wins every year is doable.
