I'll "clear up" my error in that old thread entry... a mea culpa. The post was to try to generate some interest in imagining a game between us and our old coach where were both had a tough to swallow loss (theirs worse than ours, but at the start of the season --- which games ARE often given a pass so to speak.) Then I conflated that in my head with the fact that I and the commentators at the time thought that LSU should have been up 30-10 in the first half, and, except for penalties, had outplayed them. Then I added two mindfarts: One, I forgot to type all that up, forgetting that the Kelly thread inspires comments like people trying to excrete dry pineapples out of their butts (that's purely my fault and my lazy old brain didn't even realize that it had skipped some of that), and second and worse yet, I forgot how LSU essentially quit on the field in the fourth quarter. They had been in the game and outgaining FSU till then, and quit (stunning.) So mea culpa. Tried to have a little fun, made two errors (neither as bad as the reaction, but bad), and so eff-it.

3 errors.

He’s always “Coach Kelly”, but our current one is “Marcus Freeman” or “Freeman” in every post.

Get on board OMM, there is still a seat in the VIP section of the train for you.

All Flair. No Substance?

I always say "Coach Kelly" because I believe that he gets almost no respect for having been our rebuild coach. Thus I toss that in as a small re-balancer, consciously, every time. "Coach Freeman", who I HAVE addressed that way in some posts, doesn't have that disrespect from this board, which needs constant rebalancing. He doesn't need the constant reaffirmation of authority on this board, and, frankly, should serve a bit more time to earn it. Hopefully he will, and all will sing Kumbaya. I'll be more patient about that. I've experienced Brennan, Kuharich, Davie, Willingham, Weis, Faust. Flares in the night. Right now I'm hoping that I don't have someone closer to Bob Davie (an in-house-hired DC who was very good at that, and a pleasant likeable fellow) than Superman.

I tend to maintain a lot of appreciation and loyalty to those who have tried hard and served my team. I get it that you don't give a damm about anything but "lately" but I can't be that person. ... apparently being recognized as a VIP with the IE posters is meaningful to you. That's one way to go with a hobby. Fine. I'm basically here for team information and insight into things. I'll ride in the engine room and the caboose. You can have the Club Car.

I understand your point.

Honestly though, the point of calling Boob a pleasant likable fellow has me befuddled. That guy was anything but.

On TV he was. That's why he was picked up by the broadcast channels after getting fired. His TV persona (i.e. his public face) was just fine. Had he not been a lip-licker he would have been not-at-all irritating. Your "inside information" about his personality is not what I was referring to.

Frankly guys, this isn't important at all. Last night my across-the-hallway neighbor at this retirement home (a nice 90+ year old lady who was a lifelong rabid Notre Dame fan) passed away. I've been praying the rosary for her for the last three days. She and I used to discuss things like Coach Kelly and his leaving and everything about the team, most of the SUBSTANCE of which I learned here from the more serious balanced posters. She loved all of that. Those moments of smiling --- not of screaming, accusations, mockings --- were what had meaning and value. IE helped me in those ways --- not the other crap. This is why I don't always even respond to some of this, even though I am human and it irritates me. ... but carry on.

Prayers for your neighbor and all y'all.

Note to mods etc: we really should get a prayer reaction.

One of the emptier vessels I've ever encountered. I can't imagine what he was like at some of those alumni events in the late nineties. He had the personality of a dented soup can and PRINTED his name when he autographed a football.

I guess he was anti cursive writing before it became a thing.

Gave a warning to the two boys using potty words...apparently the warning gave enough points to Forkbeard to get him temporarily banned.

Either way, both of ya settle it down.
It’s on a fucking point system? How many points per potty word?

If I run into the Red Stick Rebel in T Town in a couple of weeks I’ll give him a hug. Didn’t strike me as a hillbilly. A corn dog yes…but hillbilly… nah.
