Just wanted to point out this manslaughtering, win-vacating, human taint had a Heisman Trophy winning QB and still managed to lose 3 games. But hey, he managed to bang the overweight Baton Rouge area real estate agent daughter of a gymnastics coach. So there's that.

Carry on.

He also developed that Heisman winner. ASU Daniels was never even close to LSU Daniels. Kelly convinced him to pull the trigger and it won the kid a Heisman.

It’s pretty cool to have two Heisman QB winners in four years after enduring a decade or so of horrendous QB play and Kirk / Brian Ferentz inspired football.

This has nothing to do with BK (Heisman). This is just simply a case of BK inheriting talent.

Doesnt mean he wont take credit for it with his ego however...

I have no idea if it was Kelly, Denbrock, or Sloan, but something changed for Daniels from last year’s season to this current one.

Last year, he was almost constrained and hampered…basically, coached not to make a mistake. He was gun shy.

This year, the staff trusted him a lot more and just let him play (probably because they knew they needed to score 50+ points a game to win).

Well, fwiw, Daniels wasn’t on the roster when BK came to LSU. He sought out Daniels. So, I’ll give him credit there. He went out and got a Heisman winning QB. How much he had to do with his development, I have no clue. Like I said, Daniels improved notably this season. I mean, he was previously benched in the SEC Championship for not making any plays. Nuss came in and lit Georgia up, and it divided the fan base as to who the starter should be for the 2023 season.

Something changed with Daniels. Whether it was BK, Denbrock, Sloan, or Daniels himself…something changed, and it was awesome to watch.

McShay straight up said it was Kelly on Russillo's pod. Said last year Kelly talked about trying to get Daniels to pull the trigger and we see this year why.

You are 100% wrong. Kelly did not inherent Daniels, he inherited guys that transfered out when the guy he brought in took the job.

Kelly finally found his accurate, running QB that he never could get to ND. All I see when I watch Daniels is what we hoped Wimbash or 5* Phil would be.

My opinion is that Denbrock is actually very, very good at his job and generally underappreciated. 2015 was the best ND offense of the Kelly era on many levels, and he was heavily involved in that after serving as OC in 2014 and then being made "AHC" but still being heavily involved in that. He got shown the door after 2016 as part of the "save Brian Kelly's job" staff reshuffle.

He did great things at Cinci and made Desmond Ridder -- who isn't very good -- look like a top tier NFL prospect.

Then he went to LSU and has transformed their offense and they would be a 5 loss team without their Heisman caliber QB play... and Daniels was NOT that good before coming in to LSU.

So he has about a decade now of proven success in a lot of different situations and every time he hasn't gotten the job done it seems to be related to other factors around him. The irony is that Kelly wanted Rees over Denbrock when he took the job.

Brilliant job by BK. 9-3 with the Heisman winner.

Other than the Ole Miss loss, who wasn’t a bad team at all by any means, I’m not
too upset. Our defensive play was abysmal —literally the worst I’ve ever seen at LSU. We also lost to two elite teams (Alabama and undefeated FSU) and one good, top-15 team (Ole Miss).

Sure, we want to be better, but it is readily apparent we still have a great ways to go. The talent isn’t completely there yet — especially on the lines.

All that said, with the way the game has changed, right now, I’d rather have the Heisman and a 9-3 record than a Georgia, Ohio State, etc. season. The Heisman hangs around forever… no one will talk about Georgia or Ohio State’s 2023 season twenty years from now. It’ll largely be forgotten.

Maybe? But what really does Todd McShay know about LSU football, though? He isn’t hanging around the facilities and entrenched with the team.

I just remember Kelly hammering in 2022 no turnovers, no turnovers, no turnovers. It obviously seemed to inhibit JD’s play quite a bit in 2022. In 2023, that changed.

Maybe BK didn’t trust him when he first arrived on campus and it took him a while to gain his trust? Who knows.

LSU and Kelly will be looking at an 8-4 or 7-5 type season next year. Their offense isn’t going to be near as good with Daniels gone along with their two stud receivers. Until they fix their defense, it’s going to be a tough go for the Tigers. Kelly will have to earn his $ next year for sure.

Don’t disagree with you at all. Losing players like JD, Nabers, etc are irreplaceable.

Also, Jesus that schedule…USC, UCLA, OU, Alabama, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Florida, A&M…😂

We literally have three “blue blood” teams on the schedule — USC, OU, and Alabama. Should be a hell of a lot of fun.

South Carolina, Florida, UCLA??? Not seeing anything to keep anyone up at night with those on there.

On paper, that may be the toughest schedule in the country. Props for scheduling SC and UCLA out of conference in the same year.

Geez that sounds like posts around here. “We had a good year except losing to the good teams we played.”

I’m a realist. We’re not there yet. And we’re not all that close. I keep hearing from people who expected Kelly to rescue the program in a year. And they wonder why we can’t win games with the Directional State rejects we picked up in the transfer portal.
We don’t have a single DB who would’ve started for LSU 4 years ago. Our D line is average at best, and Perkins looks like a one-hit-wonder along the lines of Justin Vincent. It’s frustrating, but it’ll be a couple years before we (hopefully) take over Alabama’s place.
