To be 100 honest, I’m a little annoyed that ND is 10-2 but not in the NY6. Blame Michigan.

Yep. Though it's also the breaks that there's only two at-large spots this year. Usually there's more but the Peach and Fiesta are the playoff games.

For sure. I'm also of two minds on this. I'd like to see how ND stacks up with Auburn in a NY6, still have some Bama PTSD (weren't those the only two options for the Citrus scenario still "technically" in play?), but I might prefer taking a B12 (Texas) that'd still be a big game national TV right before the playoff, and we have a better (70+%) chance of winning. 11 wins might not move the recruiting needle 21-22 classes, but it might..

As much as I would like to see how ND matches up with an Auburn, Alabama,etc.. our injuries up front scare me. With Okwara, Kramer and Hainsey our I would prefer a Big12 opponent that isn’t as physical up front.

is that since we're not playing in a NY6 bowl, playing Alabama is a terrible matchup that we'd lose. Again. I would much rather play a team like Texas, who I think this year was a bit more of an anomaly than anything else and will be better next year, beat them for 11 wins in the bowl game, and move into next year with good momentum. Most people don't really remember that LSU wasn't *that* good when we beat them a few years ago, but most people acknowledged that it was a good win over a good team in the bowl game. I could see the same for Texas applying here, even though they're not nearly as good as LSU was that year.

The alternative of struggling / losing in a bowl game just furthers the narrative that "ND can't beat anybody good."

Agree I’d rather not play Auburn, especially with the injuries on our lines at this point.
The ideal situation would have been to play either a G5 in the Cotton or an ACC also-ran in the Orange. Get that NY6 losing streak monkey off our back, even if it’s against a lightweight.
Really those were the only two NY6 options open to us this year short of the playoff anyway, and where we would’ve landed if we’d beaten Michigan or even just if there wasn’t this pileup of two-loss P5 teams in front of us.
Alas...

I want Texas. They owe us for playing with a BVG handicap.

ND probably would've landed in the playoffs this year as a four seed getting ready for OSU had they beat Michigan, assuming Georgia loses to LSU this weekend. I'm not sure that would have been a good thing, though. Definitely have more quality wins than Utah and we beat the team that gave them their only loss.

didnt they get their revenge the very next year? (with a true freshman QB I might add)

No, he means our seniors want revenge.

Our current seniors were freshman in 2016, meaning their first game was in Austin.

Any fifth year seniors' first game would have been the home game when we rolled UT.

True. We definitely would’ve been in the mix anyway. I’m not sure we (or Utah) make it in over Oklahoma. But we’d be right there. That Michigan game was a real fuck.

I love being proven correct about fraud Utah. Beat by the only mediocre team they played this year, and now getting murdered by the only good team they played. There was never ANY justification for their ranking. They are utter trash.

The real frauds are the CFP committee.

I'm already mad that Utah will be ranked ahead of ND in the final CFP rankings. What an absolute trash team. They belong in the Alamo Bowl.

No reason they should be. Did not beat one team that is currently ranked while we beat 3 and lost to the one common opponent we beat (USC). CFP Committee is a joke.

Who gives a crap? If you aren't first it doesn't matter.

And now Oregon has a top 5 win because Utah was so grossly overrated.

I've seen Baylor defense play one series this season and it's already the best tackling from a CB group I've seen and theyre doing it wirh 3 star athletes.

I want Rhule badly at ND.

It'd be pretty fun to watch ND on conference championship weekend. I like ND football, I like big games, and I dont think losing one of these games automatically puts you out of the top 8 if/when it goes to 8.

Give me a conference.

I do love what Rhule has done, but I'm a bit worried about how well he'd recruit. I thought I read the other day where Baylor's class is last in the Big 12?

Depends on the conference.

ACC or Big12 or even PAC12

I would avoid the BIG10... mixed feelings about joining the SEC.
