Just because you don't want to ignore him, that doesn't mean that ignoring him is not the best option. Here's an idea...... Don't take the Lord's name in vain. At least, that seems to be the only gripe the guy has, and the reason for all of the neg reps? I used to be a sailor, and I still sometimes slip back into the mode of swearing like one. If I got neg repped by one guy, for one incident? Water off of a duck's back, man.

Let me ask. So what if a group of us started going around neg repping everyone that was a republican, democrat or from the south or north. For no other reason than we wanted to push our particular agenda upon the rest of the board. Would that be fair? Do you think no one would have a problem with that?

That's not a fair analogy... Admiral Backhand is only one person, not a group. And he is not neg repping everyone who doesn't act 100% according to Christian beliefs. You can say that this is a football board, and that is true. But it is not JUST a football board; it's a Notre Dame football board. And Notre Dame is the most prominent Catholic University in the world. So it stands to reason that there would be a certain Catholic undertone to the board, as well. I disagree with him neg repping people for saying "God Damn", but why is that any different from someone neg repping others every time they mention what an upstanding, honorable group the Florida State University Seminole football team is?

If someone said something positive about FSU, and it was their opinion, they shouldn't be neg repped for it. Same concept. The reality is that he is going around trying to pressure the rest of the board to change to fit his values.

I personally don't care who you neg rep or positive rep. But to say you "aren't looking for a fight" when you know: (a) that people have posted numerous messages on your profile page expressing confusion or frustration and (b) that neg repping is viewed by the vast majority of the board as a way to punish blatant trolls and completely absurd posts rather than something that is freely used....doesn't jive.

I would suggest you place posters on ignore, avoid repping at all, or consider leaving the board. Because neg repping so much is, by definition, antagonistic and results in "negative" threads like these rather than stuff about ND Football, cheerleaders, and pizza.
