Day had a consistent day against Bama, based upon his early playtime. He had four tackles which aint bad.

I think that it is more hyperbole toward the negative (than my hyperbole is to the positive) to say that we would only have two players that could stard at the " LSU, UF, BAMA ETC...." That ETC opened it up. My point is that I wouldn't give up our first eight for anybody. I stand by that.

And remember the word "potential"; that is what I used, so instead of worrying about drinking or homerism, reading should be at the top of the list, LOL!

I just wanted to take a minute to apologize to you Sherm! I hardly ever disagree with you. In fact, I disagree with myself more often! Seriously, I tried to explain to Tad earlier, sometimes I try to take a post and expound on it, and it is intended to be off in another direction, not right or wrong, good or bad. Not criticism at all. Just a starting point. I will try to get into the habit of starting my posts off with I agree, and then going on. I don't want to say I disagree, this site doesn't need more confrontation.
We cool.

That too, at 6'4" he is shorter than our other TEs (except for Welch ... they are about the same height). Most everyone looks short next to Niklas though.

I'd be surprised if he were near 6'4". If say 6'2".

Yeah, 247 lists him at 6'3.5", but he did look smaller than that in that video. I think it was probably just a perceptual thing or a trick of the camera angle, but I noticed it too.

EDIT: Haha, I just went and rewatched that part of the video, and Heuerman is standing with Joey Brooks (6'6"), Niklas (6'7") and Koyack (6'5"). Standing next to those guys would make a lot of people look short.

Yeah, he is small for a TE, right now. He drew praise from Kelly for his fitness though. I think they are excited about his (dare I say it) potential.

ahahaha brilliant. the next koyack perhaps? :D

Indubitably!

You know, now that the fifth-years have been anounced, I have a strong considered opinion. I didn't see the greatest past contributions of this group as a whole, (I am not speaking of the first four!) some of the end of the pack didn't impress. So I naturally thought, get a new hot freshman.

Then logic took over. I like everybody coming back except Jake. I would have even taken Jake back, because he was a pretty great guy by all accounts.

But, what I like without extending the Mob, any further is we can maintain leadership and tradition, without locking ourselves into a player for four years (See Keil) we may not need or may not need us in a couple years. Keil allowed us to keep a fifth year so thank him; and congrats to the fifth-years:

Carlo Calabrese, ILB Helps stablize Mike, really good against run.
Dan Fox, ILB This guy really started to lay the wood, best Will to start.
Both LB's meet a need and let us stablize their positions and grow less experienced players in to the position to alternate.
Zack Martin, LT No more needs to be said, only returning captain.
Tyler Stockton, DL Best teamate. I am wondering if this guy has some minutes in him.
Nick Tausch, K Interestingly, and ironically, bringing Nick back does more to stablize our kicking game than almost anything Kelly could have done, other than insist on a recruit with bionic implants.
Chris Watt, LG This guy isn't just part of the best, he brings the mean to big ugly, which is a great lesson for the youngsters.

I think he's saying that Coach Mike Shanahan looks like a horse? It was a stretch but that's what I came away with.

Oh, I get it, yeah. That's it. Oh, man! NOW I GET IT. He wasn't slicing one Shanahan he was slicing the one without two "N's"! LOL!

PLEASE NOTE: I DID NOT DISAGREE WITH ANY OTHER MEMBER QUOTED IN THIS POST.

I don't understand some posts. What actually does this mean?

He was hoping dshans could fill the front end of his two man jackass costume as he's clearly demonstrated by his post that he's got the rear end covered.

Stephon had a procedure to correct a sports hernia. I am sure he will be taking it easy this spring.

Someone mentioned a couple of times in a couple of threads how Tuitt and Day didn't look so sharp at the end of the season, Day with a hyper extended knee, and Tuitt with a hernia! NO SHIIT ~ TALK ABOUT PLAYING THROUGH PAIN! Kelly confirmed that it cost him some leg flexion, (flexibility) and lateral movement! No kidding. Just think, another case where as Kelly stated, we were pinned with irreplaceable injuries. Now look how deep we look at corner, safety, on both lines, and at running back!

Kelly must see Elmer as Martin's replacement next season. We know how high he was on Stanley and moved him to RT day 1 of spring after Elmer's arrival. Super pumped about the future of our o-line.

You know I was going to run that down tonight! One report had Elmer at LT and Stanley at RT and then Kelly said in todays presser the opposite, (which ever way it was.)

I listened to the presser and BK clearly states Stanley LT and Elmer RT. Whoever reported otherwise must have jotted it down wrong.

Ahh. I was pretty shocked whenever I read that. Regardless, I still like where our o-line stands going forward.

Since I quoted dshans post and replied to his post, he's really the only one who I'm worried about if he "gets it."

But for those of you who feel the need, go to this website called Google and search Mike Shanahan + teeth and Mike Shanahan + sun tan.

I just read the transcript posted in this thread and don't see it there. Kelly wasn't specific. Perhaps the transcriber missed something, maybe people "heard" what they thought was likely. I missed the P.C. live but did read the transcript.

Kelly noted early on that Elmer had added weight and would compete ... with no mention of position. Then he responded to a question noting, "Maybe Stanley is a right tackle. Maybe Elmer." No mention of LT there.

Q.The right side of the offensive line, you said Nick Martin competing at center. Is he still competing at guard with Hanratty? I see Lombard is listed as a guard and a tackle.

Coach Kelly: I think you have some crossover there. I think that's going to kind of play itself out.

The first thing we have to do is find that center position, lock that position. Now we have three guys that we feel are physically capable of playing that position. I think that battle kind of takes itself as the primary battle.

Conor Hanratty, we have a lot of confidence in him that he could step in and play the guard position for us. Then that gives us some flexibility that if we feel like maybe one of the other two guys doesn't stick at center can kick over to guard.

I think you find the center first, then the rest kind of takes care of itself. Lombard could kick down. Maybe Stanley is a right tackle. Maybe Elmer. There's great competition there. We've just got to sort out the center position. Once we do that, the rest kind of moves in line from there.
